AN-124 on the move at YYZ
The seized AN-124 is being moved at YYZ. Some work was done on it in the last week or two. Any more info on this?

Re: Ontario To NFLD
Not sure its worth the hassle of going through customs just to land in LFVM to get my book stamped! It's actually not any more of a hassle than landing at any other airport and checking in with someone behind the counter at the FBO. Canadians are "grandfathered" in, just need to show ID. http://www...

Re: Expat Flying
What about Caribbean? Anyone with any experience do any expat flying down south? The wife and I have bounced a kind of half serious dream back and forth about selling everything up here and moving to the Caribbean. I'll be sitting on my military pension, with ATPL(H) and CPL(A) in hand, and our kid...

Not the first time in that area. The terminal lost a few big chunks of roof some years ago.

That was nice. It was slightly more sporty when the road used to line up with the runway. There was at least one aircraft vs. vehicle encounter on short final.beech 18 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 01, 2024 8:24 am April 01, 2024

I saw the Flying Firemen Canso take off and crash in YQT in 1984. It left an impression on this young (at the time) pilot.

Re: Any LaRonge Aviation crew out there from 1977-1988
My favourite George Sewell line, usually after some form of damage or minor catastrophe: "You got to learn not to do that". We had a Transport mandated holiday once due to some alleged fuel miscalculations. There was a huge party the night before and the most junior guy had to go and sleep in the of...

Re: Should I upgrade? (Serious answers only please)
Glad to see you asking about upgrading. Getting some jet PIC would be great but picture yourself going to YSJ on a CD in January, 2 hours late. The weather is awful, you're only going to have an hour at the hotel if you make it in. YHZ is the alternate and you'll definitely have to try again after r...

Three times more Canadian pilots left for jobs in the U.S. last year, government data shows https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/pilots-us-shortage-1.6957062 Just a poorly edited article in my opinion. Nothing supports the headline, which appears to be false. Below is the real info. Nothing about anyon...

I had a CAT 1 medical appointment in May 2022 after being off for several years. I didn't expect to pass it but needed to know what tests they required.
It took until last week to get a response. The Ontario office is useless. I was able to get a real person by phoning the Winnipeg office.

Air Canada slashing routes out of Calgary in face of ongoing pilot shortage
"The industry-wide shortage of regional pilots is expected to have a prolonged impact on Air Canada’s regional network," Fitzpatrick said in an email. https://www.thestar.com/business/air-canada-slashing-routes-out-of-calgary-in-face-of-ongoing-pilot-shortage/article_960857ce-a07c-5391-8dc4-187be44e...

Is the copycat annuity an option for those on the Jazz DB plan? I saw it mentioned in the ALPA forum but don't know if anyone has successfully done it.

Re: Has anyone here worked (pilot) in the Carribean?
The pay was pretty much the same as here. The Winair pilots were in the VNV or Dutch Airline Pilots Union so the working conditions were fine and the pay reasonable. I was able to cover expenses sharing a place with another pilot and walking to work.

Re: Has anyone here worked (pilot) in the Carribean?
I worked for Winair as a Capt a long time ago. I had about 1000 hrs on type. They were able to get me a Netherlands Antilles license validation for 6 months on the condition that I'd be gone after the high season. That was fine by me. Apparently a work permit was also required as I found out several...

I agree with his points regarding Transport, Nav Canada, CATSA, etc. I'm not very smart but I've been aware of this page since it was published in December 2018. https://www.canada.ca/en/transport-canada/news/2018/12/overview-of-the-new-regulations-on-flight-crew-fatigue-management.html Mr. McKenna ...
