Re: Air Canada pilots stand “UNITED”
I want to speak on one specific topic and it is FO % of captain pay. It’s fine where it is. Don’t conflate the flat pay problem with FO pay as a whole. Why do pilots voluntarily stay as FO for decades; it isn’t because the pay is too low. Why are Captain positions being filled by some of the least ...

Re: Air Canada pilots stand “UNITED”
The problem is you don’t know, this was an 11th hour deal and the union was dealing with government interference that nobody really knows to what level other than the people in the room. It was a back and forth and maybe a company sticking point, an increase to junior FO wages means longer term inc...

Re: Air Canada pilots stand “UNITED”
That's not a fair criticism. The junior pilots did quite well in CA1 with years of service pay and the more senior pilots got less. This time, the senior pilots did better. It doesn’t matter that who did well in which contract. The way the wages was distributed was very unfair and increased the FO ...

Re: Air Canada pilots stand “UNITED”
The Pilot unity is great, it’s awesome but I hope it’s not gonna be used and abused at the cost of junior pilots like WJ did ! Seniors getting all good raises juniors be left with nickel and dime! That's not a fair criticism. The junior pilots did quite well in CA1 with years of service pay and the...

Re: Air Canada pilots stand “UNITED”
We have a lot of very hard work to do on the unity front, so I understand the frustration 100%. You don't just "forgive and forget" here, far too much has gone on. We have an entire demographic of "me first" guys and they number in the hundreds. They are doing the bulk of the "extra effort" stuff, ...

Re: Air Canada pilots stand “UNITED”
When someone comes on here and starts talking about "not repeating mistakes of the past", and they are from the past, they better be damn ready to reflect the damage done from the past But your assumption is that because the guy was "from the past" that he was involved in these mistakes. Further, e...

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
Any calls going out for late September groundschool? For Jazz candidates yes. For OTS not quite a bit early calls will most likely go out between late next week to 1st full week of Sept. Things can change. Take with grain of salt. Is there gonna be more and better options of equipment for YYZ base ...

Re: Realistic upgrade time
Hello to everybody. Although I am aware that this is a dynamic objective, I'm interested to see what a reasonable upgrading timeline would entail for a new recruit today . Obviously, there are many unknowable factors at play, but is 8 to 10 years still a reasonable estimate? Is there anything plann...

Re: Interview
I believe they are so desperate the only thing they care about on top of the min requirements is that you seem like someone who isn’t a shit disturber/could possibly drink the koolaid. If you’ve jumped from job to job or have past union rep experience red flag. If you’ve spent a decent amount of ti...

Re: New pay scales
How about the airlines listed in the main page of this forum. Large 705 operators. Seems to make sense. Sunning doesn't hire 250 hr pilots. Jazz lists their hiring minimums at 500 hours. I think it was 800 a couple weeks ago. Perhaps I'm missing something but I still don't see it. That is very inco...

Re: New Scales Feb 2023
That is a substantial jump. It appears to be higher than both WJ and Flair and almost all other airlines. Porter means business. Everyone I know says it's a great place to work and this pay scale change certainly demonstrates that it's also a top pay destination for pilots. Well done Porter! I’m no...

Re: Announced routes
And lets be honest, until what last week? Two weeks ago? Encore and Porter pay was equivalent. Jazz lagged behind both. Encore bumped pay because they can’t hang on to pilots. Hopefully the others follow suit. Can porter afford to pay more? They took on a lot of debt with 0 flights running for year...

Re: Announced routes
They pay the same as WJ at least for FO. Also fewer deductions, overtime kicks in sooner etc. Also as show in another thread WJ is 2-3 years on reserve and 10-15 years for an upgrade. Porter over wj swoop encore is a no brainer in my mind. -WJ has 20% WSP company matching ( you put 20% of your sala...

Re: New Hiring Minimums
4-5 years capt and FO should have already gone to mainline if they wanted to. And most do... which is why we are so short captains. That, or they are going to other places. Not everyone wants to be at AC. To keep Jazz functional, they need a blend of turn at the bottom, and some interested in stayi...

Re: New Hiring Minimums
The union has been clear that we do have leverage. The face that the flying is shrinking by 14% compared to last year is evidence of that. But they are desperate to try every solution aside from pay more. And management at AC and Jazz may just be stubborn enough to let the entire thing collapse. To...

Re: New Hiring Minimums
Instead of raising the pay (37k-38k/year), they decide to lower the minimum. Meanwhile union says they don’t have leverage to raise the wages. On the other hand encore just raised the salary for Q400 Basically with FO salary in regionals we cannot even rent a basement in toronto ! I am not sure how ...

Re: YTZ FOs! Where do you live? Jk I’m not fbi.
Hi, I’m just wondering! I’m hearing porter is increasing the salaries for so many departments like dispatchers now make $60k+ based on new raise or other department similar thing. But still I have not seen any pay raise for pilots! Does it effect anyone that want to stay in porter long term ? I was ...

There are 2 ground schools in May,
I do believe all the May gs pilots already got the initial emails just waiting for contracts.
They all did interviews between 1-2 months ago
But there are gs every month till the end of the year

The ground gs dates are still in process I believe. If you have less than 1500 you will need a sim eval but above 1500 no sim. It really depends, I heard back within a week but my friends heard back anywhere from 3 days up to a month. But it’s on average 3 weeks. If you feel good about your intervie...
