Re: IMP Group to acquire Cascade Aerospace Inc

If they run it like CanJet, they'll shut it down, start it up, shut it down, start it up...and if the employees try to unionize, they'll for SURE shut it down. IMP is one company that couldn't give a crap about their employees, they're sheer commodities. Which doesn't make them particularly differe...

Re: AVEOS LOCKS OUT 3000 WORKERS

From my understanding Aveos was not included in the legislation, holy crap this is not good at all!! Where is the gov't now, they better not let Air Canada go out of country for their maintenance. The way I view it is they have protected Air Canada so much that they might as well be a crown corp, an...

azimuthaviation: I'm fairly certian it hasn't. And an fyi the hercs can operate with a fuse tank, but to my knowledge they rarely do because the fuse tanks total capacity is roughly equal to the capacity of the externals and they can not have fuel in both so it doesnt make much sense to use the fuse...

Re: Want a job in BC

Cascade has picked up again, they have recalled just about everyone layed off in the last 2 years and honestly its not that bad of a place at all. Its very early in the J program and I am fairly sure they won't be seeing the first scheduled check of one till 2012. The first trainer is under way as w...

Corporal is higher then private is it not? And I am decently sure about the bonus as well, I do believe i have a credible source, but as mentioned its all about what YOU get offered, and it doesn't hurt to try and negotiate.

Re: Civvy to Military AMEs

From what I understand, your rank is your signing authority, and I also seem to remeber watching a DND saftey video where one of the "links" that caused and accident was a lower ranked person was afraid to question a higher ranked person. I have thought about going the DND route but I cant get over ...

Re: Which is more a valuable experience. Line work or heavy.

I started line and went to heavy, I too didnt have a hard time adjusting. I think the biggest issue for me with the heavy was adjusting to the idea of visual progress, and taking it down a notch. Some one once told me the diffrence between line and heavy is that in line maint your "stress"/hustle is...

Mechman 22 you forgot the layoffs in November 2008 :P. Unions have SOME advantages, including "job security" but the big thing is SENIORITY. I think the big thing a union is good for is health and safety, and protecting you in case of incidents and helping you with "right to refuse". The disgruntled comment is definitely true tho, I have never been more...

Well you would be correct, I have no dash experience. However the thought would be trying to get EI to pay for it, I figure that or the NG course would be best. But do I want to waste that EI on an endorsment, or would a whole new trade be better? I mean i'm sure if I'm not paying for it and it incr...

Well with the industry the way it is today, and me getting bored on my ass, heres a question, how much does the avg dash8 course cost, or should I totally jump ship and get ei to retrain in a different career field. Or another option is the military, I got some exp on their hercs, apparently a decen...

Re: Ice Pilots of NWT Series on History Channel this Fall!

For the whole wing walking, you dont really need a stand, you can use vacuum anchors, set a primary and secondary up attach the rope between the 2 of them and your set to walk along the wing. http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/items/2UZZ1 Its kinda pricey but I think you can rent them as well. http://...

Pretty disappointing responses from some of the posters on this forum. "Kilpicki" feels qualified enough to suggest that a person must be "one dumb s-it" for trusting a fellow human with torque settings advice. Nice. "Aircraftnut1966" feels that since he/she paid a "price" to obtain this knowledge,...
