Re: Minority stake of WJ sold
Can you please elaborate how an bigger, foreign airline, with its own set of ambition and goals, buying a minority stake of a smaller airline is unequivocally a good thing for everyone? Genuinely curious.

So when is WJ axing the -10?
Let’s say the -10 gets miraculously certified next year… WJ probably won’t touch their first tail until at least
2029…2030?
Does WJ really need those extra 8 rows? Just swap em to -8 before it’s too late…

Re: If I am willing to go anywhere in Canada, is there ANY job for a 180 hour pilot?
Getting your first gig is always tough. I would look into getting into the ramp with an operator that historically has hired internally. Some decent operators across the country have 'low-time programs' which is basically a seniority list of rampies with entry level requirements that get a shot at a...

Check 704.108
(3) No person shall act as the pilot-in-command of an aircraft with passengers on board in IFR flight unless the person has acquired at least 1,200 hours of flight time as a pilot.
B1900 that are operated under 704 ops do not require ATPL caps, CPL + 1200hr TT

I did that but it said to email for licensing. I remember a few months ago you could leave a voicemail or talk to someone.Turboprops wrote: ↑Sun Aug 28, 2022 7:20 am Had no problem calling them in May/June, just call the number and press whatever to get transferred to licensing?

Just be ready to get a new passport. You can always try your chances and ask at the Iraqi border not to get your passport stamped (worked for me in other ME countries).

Re: European Airlines Hiring Canadians
No. Europe does not have a shortage of pilots, unless you fly a very-specific type and have exhaustive experience on it. Work sponsorships in Europe are utterly complicated, and with the UK out of the EU, you have very limited options. Best way to go is to get your permanent residency (some airlines...

Re: Becoming a pilot
The hardest thing in becoming a pilot is having a good attitude. Many pilots may have scored great in their tests but their attitude doesn’t allow them to move upwards in their careers. Some of them somehow make it and you will question why they fly for a living. Second hardest thing, as mentioned h...

Re: New TC Cannabis rules
Mainstream consumption of cannabis is relatively new, and like anything in aviation, regulators take their precautions and time to catch up. The current 28 days policy (which includes CBD) is just a very comfortable liability cushion.

Re: Is an airline career worth pursing?
Well, you don't have to follow the common path that people with less stability and commitments are willing to take (i.e going North). You can slowly transition from your stable job by getting an instructor rating (if you enjoy teaching), instruct part-time and build sufficient hours to perhaps bypas...

Re: At a loss. Too much bureaucracy
This is part of CAR 401.28 regarding reimbursement and might be useful for your case: 3) The holder of a private pilot licence may receive reimbursement from the holder’s employer for costs incurred in respect of a flight if the holder (a) is employed on a full-time basis by the employer for purpose...

The airline was originally founded in 2013 and planned to launch an ULCC in 2019 based at YVR. That launch timeframe was pushed back, and in 2021, a new anticipated launch date of early 2022 was announced. In the meantime, the airline decided to change its business plan to focus on the leisure trave...

Re: Advertising Aircraft rides. Legal or not?
I'm a CPL holder who's trying to gain some flight hours from left and right until I can find a job in aviation. My questions is: Is it legal that I can bring passengers and charged them only for the fuel and rental of the plane without taking any profits? If they are incidental to the flight then y...

I'm in the same boat. I learned fairly quickly that operators don't care where you are trained. I wouldn't mention your college until you are interviewing for AC. As mentioned here, talking to people is key. Don't expect to get a job just by sending resumes and interchanging emails with an HR employ...

Re: Is this The End of the Pilot Career
Single pilot airliners are definitely coming. It will take time. The infrastructure to support a single pilot fleet will probably be massive and prone to looooong regulatory requirements. Just imagine massive airlines like American or Ryanair retrofitting their own ops system to a single pilot fleet...
