Re: 10 year agreement with pilots
Don't be blinded by the signing bonus. There are some details coming to light that seem to indicate this may not be quite as good a deal as some think. Lots of questions still left to be answered..... Really? There are no concessions here...do the improvements meet everybody's expectations? No...wi...

Re: Air Canada Pool
Sorry, just re-did my math (should have said 60)...it ranges between 27-30 per a/c. Overseas aircraft, senior pilots with max vacation, relief pilots, etc...We currently have 490 pilots on the 777 for 18 aircraft; an average of about 27.2 pilots per aircraft...bcflyer wrote:90 pilots for two 777's...that many?

Re: Air Canada Pool
The company has stated that there would be no layoffs as a result of the EMJ 175 transfer (not that I believe anything the company says) and that in-fact hiring would continue...If this is true there should be NO reduction bid...stagnation maybe but not reduction... For what it's worth... -15 EMJ = ...

and after 6 years at AC on the EMJ you make roughly $69,000, after 6 years 6 years thats a long time, 6 years doesnt just come and go I won't get into the debate...however the above quote isn't entirely accurate...the last couple of bids had about 30 undib 320 f/o spots. This may not be the case in...

The requirement is the same as a CAT1...as long as you are correctable to 20/30 in each eye, you're good!

Simple solution would be to start an "Air Canada" private company forum here on Avcanada...How would we go about doing that???

Deny, Deny, Deny, Deflect, Deflect, Deflect but the light in the tunnel keeps getting bigger every day. It's easy to see why we are in this predicament in the first place when an ACPA executive makes a statement like the above ! Hey, At least he has the Ba//s to sign his name!.. Nothing has changed...

Re: Federal Court Decision re V-K JR, February 2, 2011
What does this decision actually change Ray?
Does this mean everybody gets to come back?...today, I mean...
Does this mean that Air Canada has to "cease and desist" with retiring pilots at 60?
What are the immediate effects of this decision?
Thanks,

Re: AC C2 & TC!
Here fishy fishy, Actually if your paystub says Jazz on it every 2 weeks than you are a Jazz employee therefore you are NOT on LOA which would mean that if you are an LOA you CANNOT use pass's period. Not really here to get into a pi?$ing match but fine...I didn't say that Jazz employees working fo...

Re: AC C2 & TC!
Jazz employees don't work for TC. They work for Jazz. There is no such thing as a Jazz employee commuting to work for TC. They are commuting to work for Jazz. "Un-True"...Jazz employees operating aircraft for TC are considered to be on LOA from JAZZ (this is according to Air Canada management) and ...

Wasn't there some people who started ground school last week though? So that would make it 81? The latest bid only shows the 10 New Hire's from November...The December crs is not included therefore those positions still show as vacant...So basically you've got 61 open positions, subtract 8 for the ...

People with a greater knowledge of the system than me will no doubt pipe up here. My belief is that this 61 is in addition to the number posted before. The 61 new positions on this bid are in addition to the 10 new hires that already started this past November and are now showing as active on this ...

Re: Air Canada Hiring 51 pilots
I think that there is some bad news coming up for you guys. I spoke with a union guy last week, and he says that the anticipated Nov/Dec bid is going to be a down bid. This is due to the fact that 120 pilots may be returning, and many may stay beyond the age of 60. Sorry guys, hope it's not true. H...

It is interesting that the court did not grant the "cease and desist order"...when it comes to the mandatory retirement age in the AC collective agreement?

Training could be in either YYZ or YVR...Likely YYZ, as mentioned.

New Hire Courses Scheduled for November & December.
YYZ EMJ New Hire Course scheduled for December 02...YVR 767 RP scheduled for November 29th...
3 weeks or so for the PIT course should put some New Hires on the property first week of November or so...

Re: June eqpt bid - no hiring.
I agree...The company now has the ability to run a bid 4 times a year and from what I understand they will likely post 10-03 sometime in early September.
It's more likely to see hiring in late 2010 or early 2011...provided the bid shows a vacancy!
