Re: Anyone have any clue what the proposed SALARY SCALE LOOKS LIKE WITH THE NEW TA?
The entitlement is what gets me. Hearing you talk about needing to “live the rest of your life” ignores reality. Everyone struggles at the beginning—this is nothing new. Plenty of us started on $52K at TS, flat pay at AC, or similarly rough entry-level airline wages, and we made it work. You’re not...

Re: Air Canada Pension
For comparison sake, I'd very much appreciate if someone could let me know what their simulator says for someone joining at 45 with less than 20 years left to go. Is it possible to account for a medium metal chasing progression, not taking the lowest possible bid to equipment or seat at every chance...

Re: 2025 Pilot Recruitment
I have nothing against Transat at all, I just believe we all benefit when every group makes large gains to keep climbing out of this Canadian salary hole we all got put in together. Just trying to point out how far behind they really are in a lot of respects and hope the guys know how much they actu...

Re: 2025 Pilot Recruitment
Maybe I was a little emphatic about it, and sorry if that came across as blustery, but how is anything I posted off the mark or wrong? I'm just going by the published numbers. If there's more to it, please correct me, all good. This is just what I see. Not sure how you're calculating that it would ...

Class D as total time?
Curious, once we've done a bunch of type ratings and many initials and recurrents at a 705, we've accrued hundreds and hundreds of hours of class D Sim time. Everything counts towards currencies, t/o and landings, etc,- But do we consider that towards Total Time? Hearing people saying both. Discuss!...

Re: Recall of MEC Chair & Vice Chair
I touched on this in another post, but I think ALPA Canada needs to nut up, in serious way. I just don't have confidence they are truly fighting for pilots, just fighting to grow their membership. This sentiment is growing as their fragility seems to be more exposed. Every airline who joins ALPA ha...

Re: 2025 Pilot Recruitment
Oh it's really low. Not Cargojet low, but low. Currently takes over 4 years to break 100k, and upgrades are about 7-8 years. Here's an example compared to AC- After 8 years at Transat, you upgrade on an A330, You make $202/hr, or $194.5k/yr. You upgrade at AC onto a fricken 220, at a fair year 3, an...

Ah, interesting.
Ok, so to be clear, new hires that were freshly on the payroll, maybe doing online courses, have not been given layoff notices?

New Hire Layoffs at AC?
Heard second hand the other day that along with the cancellation of GS's at AC, new hires in various stages that aren't fully qualified yet have been officially laid off.
Will this be applying up the line to any active pilots?

I would like to hear what a normal month of take-home is these days for 1st year at AC. (And WJ, sure, if anyone wants to volunteer. NORMAL month)
Also is flat pay only 2 year now? What kind of additions go onto your pay after?
Gross and net please, very curious.
Thanks

Re: Source for airport incidents on a specific day?
The easiest thing I can think of it to look at the ADSB exchange archive playback, and watch the airport in question to see how many aircraft go around. Thanks for the reply. Nav Can stated they can't provide it without a data access agreement- a pricey proposition! The ADSB exchange is a good idea...

Source for airport incidents on a specific day?
Hello, just wondering if there's a way to access succinct data for something like exactly how many GA's happened at an airport on a specific day. Not anywhere near all of them get into CADORS.

Re: Flair still searching for capital infusion
EBITDA of $14M means very little. It's well known that Flair is heavily indebted to 777 and others. Given they have a lean business model, I would bet they had a net loss of around -$20M. Could be as high as -$30M. They didn't make a mention of their margins. As a frame of reference, using TRZ becau...

Re: Hiring Process & Content
Cargojet actually employs a hiring strategy whereas they go for guys who they "hope" will stay. What this means is if you're a young firecracker with a post secondary degree, started as a flight instructor wearing a shirt and tie, couple of good jobs, quick progression, references, etc, you're less ...

Re: Is there an AC pension calculator?
That's true... if you're just looking at the sum of totaI value. I also assume one would be going fully to 65 in order not to garner further penalty with only 20 YOS. (Though I'd put some Canadian Tire money on it being 67 by the time I'd get there.) Really? 2 year average for those desk jockeys? Mo...

Is there an AC pension calculator?
So with the new TA, I'm now ruminating giving a stab at an existing interview offer as it's no longer a total hard pass foodstamp move, just a bit of an Independant Grocer move for a while. Hopefully it gets voted down and tweaked, and that will make the decision to move over a lot easier... if not ...

Re: Why all the gnashing of teeth??
I'm just sick of perpetuating this "Hey it'll be great if you got hired at 25 and you'll start enjoying your life in 20 years!" What a ridiculous industry. My take? Cut year 2 and 3 right out of the scale. Max working days 16 no matter what. Adjust hourly to reflect the same gain with 80 hrs block. ...
