Not interested in their Game of Thrones type politics and sitting right seat for 5 years +.

Life is getting expensive these days.

Re: E2 Captain

Thanks for the info!

Indeed the 700 PIC is in transport category.

To be honest I wouldn’t know of any two crew jet in Canada that would be under the 12,500 Lbs weight limit lol. Maybe a Hondajet? I’d have to check lol.

Re: E2 Captain

Thinking of leaving my current place. Not very safe maintenance wise. I’m standing at approx 3000TT +. 2200 hours of jet and 700 Jet PIC. I’d like to stay until I get past the 1000 Jet PIc mark, but I fear if the trend continues we are headed for something major. I know it’s all seniority based. But...

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread

Jazz here…jazz there….seriously. What are the chances of getting in and not working for jazz? You only have 6 months from the time you interview to the cutoff PFO to. Get in.

If it’s only Jazz guys getting in. Then it’s a waste of time trying to get in externally!

Re: Is Jazz upgrading new hires with little to no type experience?

To answer the 95% of DEC fail is pretty normal. Not bashing any other jobs out there, but when you go from a instructor job with no turboprop, SOP or international experience. Or come from a northern operator flying Navajos or King airs with little to no SOP discipline. Don’t be surprised to see a h...

Re: DEC Jazz

What’s the current status for DEC’s for 2024? I remember seeing a hiring portal on their website for DEC’s last year. Haven’t seen it since Spring/Summer 2023. Last rumours I hear was they had a lot of FO’s difficult to upgrade due to PIC hours needed and there was a lack of Left seat upgradable can...

Re: Flair/Lynx Merger

A merger would be simply catastrophic and I do not support it. Especially when the bigger company wanting the merger is riddled with financial problems. Taking a step back before I develop more on the subject. It is finally time to see ULCC markets flourish in Canada. 600$ round trip from Toronto to...

6 Months…you’re out?

I had heard that you had 6 months from the interview date to be in the system, then get ejected, regardless if you are still in the hiring process or not. Example; you interview in March, pass all the documentation, the medical, the psych eval, background check is sent to you. Don’t hear back. Then ...

Re: Voting is open for TA on merger between ACPA and ALPA International

Welcome to ALPA!

The question is how better and how competent will that branch be at AC. What are their specific goals and when will they be implemented?

No use getting a grey rock and trading it for a same grey rock.

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread

While deferring is a choice. Choose wisely. Deferring does not guarantee you a spot. If they for some reason decide to forgo a class or change hiring principles due to outside factors, you may be dropped.

Re: Equipment by base

Everyone is telling everyone to avoid bidding WB FO to get out of Reserve and get a block as quickly as possible.

But realistically how long would it be for anyone to get a block and off Reserve these days? Since everything is rolling fast it seems…what the new predicted time?

Re: How long until you hear back from AC?

I believe they will be available right away. As you’ll need them to commute to and from the location for the PIT and sim. Unless that’s covered by AC itself under those conditions. But I pretty sure your flight privileges are available right away. I think it might be flight attendants which have to ...

Re: How long until you hear back from AC?

How many classes per month can we expect? As summer is approaching, do they freeze classes until the fall? Just got the background check last week. Interviewed mid February. Medical 1 week later. So technically anything from 2 weeks to a month I assume to hear back after the background check is comp...

8 weeks?
Mine took like 11 weeks back in May/June, that’s with me calling everyday, sent them a company letter saying it’s required for a job, and escalated it to a manager
Well shit. Looks like I’m going to have to go down that path to get it escalated. What office was it done?

Late 2022 ATPL issue time

Hi Y’all,

Small question for the community. How much are ATPL times for the license issuance? I heard it can take up to 8 weeks but I find that excessive. Thanks!!

Equally interested in the process as well.

I had heard that AT is looking to hire about 10 new-hires a month for the following months. Recalls have been completed by early this year in the spring.

Could anyone confirm that? Thanks.

Re: Mainline hiring

With about 30 '37s on order, not including the extra 15 received this year, I doubt that hiring has been closed on a long run. Looking at the spectrum nationally and internationally; there are staff shortages in aviation in all departments. Now that AC is open again, I bet you many in the WS system ...

It’s pretty quiet. I was going to ask the same thing. I guess a lot are on vacation now and/or gearing up for a possible busy hiring fall organizing ground schools/sim dates etc. With lack of staff, it’s going to take longer.

Re: Any hiring plans this year at all?

They posted yesterday. So what’s the usual training path for new hires. I can’t seem to find anything in that regards? Company indoc, sim, training, line-indoc, seniority, type selection etc? With the new 321NEOs, do you get first typed on one aircraft then get a 330 difference course months later? ...

so 5 minus the guys that just quit for other jobs plus the guys that just quit in general. I don't know how they don't feel the shortstaffness yet! With a busy summer schedule....yikes! More flight cancelations.
