Re: North Star Air Acquired by Northwest Company

The repercussions will not be "down the road". They will be immediate. This is not about Cargo North's way of operating, this is simply about Northwest Co looking at controlling their costs and making more money by profiting by the air transport area of their operation. By monopolizing the grocery m...

Re: Cargo North (North Star Air) Crashes DC3 in PickleLake

What would a (presumably) empty DC3 weigh? Plus the weight of a crane, flatbed etc and all related rescue equipment. Yeah, they will have to move quick, although I am sure there is probably still lots of ice. Is there a way to track the course this flight took? I tried looking on Flightaware, but co...

Re: Gear issue-This guy was very wise to get towed in

The situation for these guys was actually much scarier than the description entails. When the aircraft actually first settled down on the mains, the nose gear swung fully aft, then swung back forward. The aircraft then rose again slightly, and the nose gear swung fully aft again. Twice the gear swun...

Re: Wasaya caravan missing

Many facts to come yet so a little early to be trying speculate as to whether the pilot succumbed to cold or injuries sustained. My comment is directed to the person that talked about inadequate de-icing facilities. Although I agree de-icing in remote communities can be and is a problem it had noth...

Re: Wasaya caravan missing

Horrible news. Came in this morning hoping for the best. Can't imagine what this poor families Christmas is going to be like. And on a very related note........the day and age of trying to deice a Caravan, or any other aircraft for that matter, using only a backpack with room temperature glycol, and...

Re: And in other Wasaya-related news....

I wouldn't feel too bad for Cargo North. This is simply a it of Karma. Their whole MO has been to try and squirrel in with the Bands, and force the other carriers out. No sympathy here.

MyID Travel site

Hi all
The company I work for is about to implement this site for all non-rev travel.
I don't know too much about it, or how it all works, so just looking for comments.
Whats good about it, whats bad.

Re: Ornge Sikorsky Air ambulance accident Northern Ontario

Actually, the trees at that end of the field are much higher than 6', and the rescue crew was not able to just walk in. It was very difficult to reach the site.

Re: Could someone check loads?

D2 is priority for most interline companies.
Not employees of Jazz/AC, but JV,YN etc.

And no, no access to the sites shown. Would be nice, though.

Rentals in the Cornwall area

Hi all I have just recently relocated to Cornwall, and am in the process of looking for 172 rentals (PPL). I have spoken to the people at the Summerstown airport, but was curious as to whether there are any other clubs within about an hours drive. Just looking to compare $$, airplanes, etc. Also, an...

Re: A medical question

She has had the clot for a few months now, and is on medication ( I think its cumodin ??). It still hurts from time to time, which is what worries us. We are awaiting a doctors opinion, she has an appointment later this week. I was just curious if generally its normal to fly with it, or if it is gen...

A medical question

My mother-in-law is loking into possibly flying down south this summer. She is 80, in good health other than a blood clot in her leg. Is there anything about flying that makes travel with a blood clot more inherintely dangerous? Is there any chance the pressure changes in an aircraft could effective...

Habs Vs Leafs

Once upon a time long, long, ago there was a season when neither the Leafs nor the Canadiens made the post season playoffs. It seemed so unusual, that the management of both teams got together and decided that there should be some sort of competition between the two teams because of their great riva...

Re: Gasoline Prices

Hedley...I am not saying ridiculous gas prices make us great. I am the first to complain about it after going to the states. I often fly out of border cities if the fare is cheaper. My question is simply if the added taxes that we pay do in fact lead to a better standard of life. We have all heard o...

Re: Gasoline Prices

So this brings up an interesting point: We complain about how high taxes are here, and point to the States as to how it should be. Everything is cheaper. But is everything better? Is the average American in a better place financially than the average Canadian. I have travelled to the States extensiv...
