Re: Dealing with Civil Aviation Medicine (Update)

Any update on this, bb? Started the course and I have until August or something like that to get my medical. They will help me expedite the process once I send in the additional documents (which will be roughly next week) how did it go? also what were the documents you had to send? did you have to ...

Re: Frequent job posting when many are waiting

The list is ever changing. Every time they get ready to send out offers they pick the top X candidates from the list. These are just estimate numbers thrown around but roughly 1% of people that apply get an offer ~30-50% of VFR offers materialize into licensed controllers ~30% of IFR - 80% of FSS Tr...

Re: Cat 2 initial medical timeline

Does NavCanada allow you to join training while your certification is on going? If yes, until what point during the training they would need the certificate? I've had my in-person assessment earlier this month and they told me they require your certificate before training can start. This was in YUL...

Re: Cat 2 initial medical timeline

There have been a lot of delays recently but people are starting to get theirs a lot quicker. I've seen a lot of people recenlty get them within 1-4 months. I've been waiting almost 7 on the other hand but mine did require additional information. If you do your medical right now you should expect it...

Re: Cat 2 Medical - Additional information vs "further review"

So I just got an email from TC (after I filed out their enquiry portal). I've been waiting a little over 6 months now for my medical. My CAME told me that they might require additional information in which case I would still recieve a letter in the mail with what they needed. I still have not recie...

Re: Cat 2 Medical - Additional information vs "further review"

Good on ya! And don’t worry, it won’t affect your process at all….worst case it delays your start date but might not even come to that. There’s just so many aspects that go into recruiting and scheduling courses that a chance of a delay needs to be known when it can be. Lol i really hope it doesnt ...

Re: Cat 2 Medical - Additional information vs "further review"

Because we/they normally assume that if someone isn’t getting their medical right away it’s due to TC being slow and dealing with a backlog where the medical will eventually arrive. If there’s an issue with you not getting a medical at all due to some issue with your exam that’s a whole different s...

Re: Cat 2 Medical - Additional information vs "further review"

Am I correct in assuming this is an initial CAT II to enter training for ATC? If so, you need to let Nav Canada know about this right away. Yes it is. Sorry why do I need to let NavCan know about this? I reached out to them regarding my medical already and was told to just keep waiting til I get so...

If you were marked eligible for offer in YYZ but did not recieve one yet then changing your FIR to YYC might actually get you a better chance of an actual offer. Just shoot off emails to Ottawa and Toronto asking for consideration in your new FIR and you should be good.

Re: job application status question

What do you mean you didn't make it. Did you fail feast or did you not get an invite to the bootcamp/interview.

if you failed feast then you would not be reconsidered. If you just didn't make the top candidate pool then you can still be considered.

Re: Trainee Pay

Yes its 49k for the entirety of your training. For IFR that could be close to 2-2.5 years. Sure you could work part time on weekends but it wouldn't really make your training easier and considering the fact that if you get CT'd you don't get anything it may not really be worth the risk. Have heard s...
