Re: Nature Air / Costa Rica

Nature Air used to really solid back when they ran twin otters. Few years back they switched to Let 410 soon after management change. Big mistake. Last year Bank repoed the Lets. They contracted out all flying to a third party contractor. Local charter outfit not really staffed for the extra work. P...

Re: Westjet cabin incident, good thing it wasn't United or AC

I totally agree with you rookie however this is a directive from TC cabin safety division. All the FA was doing was enforcing a stupid rule. If you paid attention to the cabin safety briefing you would have heard the standard "only earbud devices connected to the aircraft entertainment system is all...

Re: Government to Consider Random Alcohol testing for pilots

With all due respect, security screening of air crew is a consequence of filling gaps in security and is more window dressing than anything else. Our liquids and gel exemption is proof of that. I even set off the alarm after a hand swab on one occasion . It was a non event, checked my RAIC noted the...

Re: Government to Consider Random Alcohol testing for pilots

It appears the Emirates brainwashing machine is really good at their work. Convincing a Canadian expat that mandatory breathalyser testing before each flight is a perfectly acceptable way of managing the issue. While I understand there is a cultural difference in that part of world and the way laws ...

Re: Germanwings A320 Plane Crashes in Southern France

A recent technical bulletin was released by Airbus regarding uncommanded pitch over as a result of frozen or malfunction of the AOA indicator. By not turning of two of three ADIRS (air data computers) off even full stick back inputs would not recover control away from the Airbus. This is because the...

Well supercharged it is today reality of social media. Her perception is her reality. Just like people who hear about one Air Canada flight attendant or gate agent with a bad attitude leads someone to believe Air Canada service is bad. No one ever talks or makes conversation of the good service. It'...

And we call ourselves professionals

Someone I know sent me this video today and asked me; is this the maturity level of pilots these days? She was shocked and said that she had always placed a great deal of trust and faith into the pilots that fly the planes she travels on. After seeing this video she is now concerned that those at th...

Re: AC buying/bought AT

Have you seen the pay scale at Rouge for fa's and pilots. Lots of of skippers are at year 10 pay at AT, not to mention senior fo's making +100k in Yul. Mostly all new right seat meat and year 2-3 skippers starting at little red.

Re: AC buying/bought AT

Strategically makes sense. Buy the tour operation cut the airline division loose because of its high cost structure. Rouge gets instant market share, eliminates their main competitor for the euro market and has one less headache for the winter. I'm sure the bean counters are looking at this option. ...

SOP for all airlines for oceanic ops to have vhf radios tuned to 123.45, 121.5. You can bet Gander tried both those freqs and selcal on their last hf assignment to get a hold of these guys. Even if the vhf radio volumes where turned right down the selcal chime would still be audible. It was not thei...

Its comments like this that will come back to haunt them in the next election. Very stupid strategy to thumb your nose at the working middleclass considering they are a much larger voting block than the 1%ers. Trampling on the rights of workers and comments like Clement will only galvanize the worki...

This ones for you JJJ. I too agree that airlines need to be in the business to make money. However, with ever decreasing yields due to rising operating costs and capacity being dumped into the market as companies bid for more market share, management is struggling to keep their competative advantage...

Cargojet up dividend payouts

Looks like CJT wants to give more money to shareholders. It sure looks like all that cost cutting in 2010 was pretty effective. Lets hope they don't go back to the employees again and demand more for less like last time so they can to keep up those higher payouts that shareholders will be expecting ...

Kind of hypocritical if you ask me. Cargojet crew and aircraft were all back home Monday. As a matter of fact AJT requested Cargojet to do more trips for them ...
