Re: Quick Question for SAR_YQQ or his ilk
Not for flight planning...that's done in the aircraft commander's head on the way to the hangar. Some bases have Wing Ops who assist in calling out crew, arranging fuel. We use Sqn Ops for that.

Re: Search & Rescue or Search & Recovery
Does Alaska have some type of SAR outpost? Would it be feasible as a starting point for Canada N of 60? If so, would this be a viable option - to come to some agreement with the US about sharing resources? SAR is not bound by borders. If an American resource is closer, or can provide assistance, th...

Re: Any thoughts on the Pacer??
If the price is right and the airplane is in good shape don't worry about the 135 HP. the rest of the airplane more than makes up for it. . . Good advice. I had a Piper Clipper (the precurser to the Pacer...no flaps, stick, 0235 Lycoming, smaller tanks) for a few years and it was damn good fun. A l...

There are 2 reserve slots on the Cormorant...one in Comox (SAR YQQ....is he actually flying/teaching at the school or working ops? Haven't talked to him in a long while). The other reserve flying position is in Gander.

Are you fortunate to have the Jalapeno and chedder cheese spread? What about the "4 fingers of death"? Are you fortunate to have the Jalapeno and chedder cheese spread? What about the "4 fingers of death"? Can't say we have either, but I don't eat them too often anymore...just what's carried on boa...

Re: Merry Christmas to CDN Forces Troops abroad
Price includes 6 months in a 4-man recce tent, with your choice of IMP's (Ham Steak w/Mustard ONLY) or UGR-A's, Menu's 1 through 3. I still can't eat ham and pineapple.....ugh......the IMP selection has come a long way in the last 10 yrs. I did, however, love those cherry cakeish desserts. Rescue.

You will never...EVER...find a better place to work in Southern Ontario...INCLUDING working for Air Canada  (j/k) The guy running the show now is perhaps THE most professional individual this industry has/will EVOOOR see. Well, what specifically are you looking for from the operational side? I started out civvy (working with the likes of I am Birdog), then switched to military. Would I change anything? Maybe flown more civvy, maybe applied to the CF earlier....either way, I don't regret it. Military aviation is an en...

I'm not doubting your credentials, but, as a daily operator of the 149, this is what I'm told. Plus I checked with our maintainers. Heavy maintenance begins at approx 2000 hrs (which most Cormorants are in the vicinity of) and the aircraft is out of service for a considerable amount of time. Aircraf...

The Cormorants are not grounded. The one's you see in Trenton are in routine scheduled heavy maintenance. There are still 4 in Greenwood (we have one in routine maintenance and 2-3 serviceable depending on the day) , 3 in Gander and 5 in Comox. Trenton's fleet was replaced with Griffons to relieve a...

"hey what happens if I pull the red handle?'' Good thing we pay our taxes to cover fu-k ups like that. Nice to know that the safety of our country relies on highly trained, skilled and intelligent individuals. The opinion of a moron who has most likely never flown an aircraft equipped with an eject...
