Back when I used to float fly (or fly at all for that matter) I used to wear "Merrell" soft rubber sole shoes. The ones I had were mainly constructed of neoprene. I found they had a good grip on various surfaces and could come off easily if I needed them off in a hurry, either emergency (never happe...

Thanks for your kind comments guys, much appreciated. CAT - SMS? Not familiar with the acronym. As far as coming back to flying professionally, sorry man... not likely. I may in the next couple of years return to my first and what was my greatest love... gliding. Driving Rain - Within the probationa...

I think there are 2 competing realities when it comes to a pilot's aviation career. On the one hand most pilots absolutely love what we do, and can't imagine doing anything else. It's almost like a religion really. We all know that pull to flying exists and that the phrase "I am a pilot" means much ...

If you fly NIGHT VFR or IFR, would you not need a PPC for the C172?

In regards to the ramp, if you play your cards right and are a bit lucky, then yes I agree with you, but there is only so much luck to go around, so I would still maintain that being prepared to do the ramp is reasonable... In regards to Cat's Cub, ya I forgot about this option. By a share into an a...

OK, here's my 4 cents Get float rating, better odds of getting a job sooner. Between 500 to 1000 hours PIC, then think about getting your Multi IFR and then be prepared to go back to the ramp for a year or two. Do the 50 hour course, but make sure it's not all cross-country time, cuz that's not flyi...

For your Multi IFR I highly recommend ProIFR out of the Boundary Bay airport (in BC, CZBB I think).

http://www.proifr.com

While I haven't done mine there myself, I wish I had. I have friends who have and have nothing but good things to say.

My 2 cents.

Hornblower,

because I was a high school coop student, no pay involved, just educational credits.

I mean, if a life time of high school credits is your thing

Need DHC-2 POH

I'm moved to the west coast and am looking for float work. I want to beef up on the airplane's stats and procedures. Anybody know where I might procure one?

Thanks,

From the word of mouth that I've been exposed to I find that you couldn't go wrong with ProIFR.

Always,

I see. I whole heartedly agree. He doesn't want myself and the other part time cojo to talk to eachother about our salaries.

That doesn't sit well with me. If you can't be upfront then by default you are trying to hide something. Divide and conquer...

Max, I have a job. Part time Navajo co-pilot for a new start up. Part time until the business' client base grows. I also have inroads with another company that is more established. I'm just curious to see what typical pay scales and flight hours are for this type of position to see where my situatio...

Thanks, but I was hoping more for company specifics if possible, such as $60 a day base plus 6 cents per mile, etc, pilots averaging about 50 hours a month", and so forth.

Navajo Capt. and Co-Joe Pay...

I've searched the forums and can't seem to find a previous post, but if this is a re-hash then I'm sorry. I was wondering for you Navajo pilots out there, particularly in Ontario, what are the payscale for both Captains and particularly for Co-pilots, as well as how busy are you guys on average (fli...

Take it from a 2000 HR pilot who has done Dock, Bush Flying, Instructing and facing having to go Ramp. If you don't have a great drive to teach, go ramp. Steady paycheck with an "IN" with a company. My experience has been that ramp jobs blow up in your face far less often than instructing jobs. If I...

I'm sure all the same senior instructors are there, but I understand that this year the college admitted around 50% more students than years previous (probably to help fund the new facilities). With that kind of increase they will need more manpower for the summer training, and since their contract ...

I'm sorry Cat but I have to agree with the "end of the runway method". I'm sure it's not for everyone, but for students and new pilots I have generally found the key difficulties involve landing flat and drifting. 9 times out of 10 I confirmed that my students would be looking too close and therefor...
