Re: Who Wants to Fly WJ
I actually enjoye working here and I get along great with everyone. But this company is antiquated. My attitude is not a dig at the pilots. So don't take it personal. It's a dig at management slow process in the 29 year of existence still running scheduling websites, payrol, and SOPs likes it's the ...

Re: Who Wants to Fly WJ
This is the most antiquated airline I've ever worked for. The regional airline I worked for in the early 2000s had better IT services. JDE and Rain Maker (should be Day Force). Wings, Trim, Flica, and WS Crew View for scheduling. Old SOPs and long checklist. Making manual altitude callouts on appro...

Re: Emirates after AC
The only reason nso many went to Asian and the middle east back in the earlier 2000s was because there was no movement in North America. No one was retiring. The industry was stagnant. If you're already at AC, stay there. Seniority is everything. Slow and steady wins the race. Not jumping from airli...

If you're to experienced to stroke the egos of the pilots on the panel, you're not get hired.
Re: YQB base
Yes but they announced it to late. They don't have enough captains and FA to staff it. The NOV 1st reduction bid downgraded a lot of the original YQB captains and alot of the FAs quite already. Why would anyone bid this if they don't live there and already have a crashpad elsewhere. YQB will most li...

Re: Who Wants to Fly WJ
Now getting seats that don't recline. It is one thing for Ryanair to do it when you pay a dollar but WJ has similar prices to AC and Porter, Porter or AC for me thanks. Don't pick that seat. And if you do they are fixed at a slight recline beyond the full upright of the previous seats. WestJet is n...

Re: Why WestJet?
Sunwing FO's were allowed to bid for upgrades, if their seniority allowed of course. They secretly changed the upgrade requirements after the fact, and a revised bid award had taken away the upgrade for the Sunwing FO's that held left seat. It's unbelievable how management and the Westjet union are...

Re: Hiring Processes
I think it depends on the experience of flight ops personal. Flair does cognitive test because they all came back from the sandbox or Asia. So they think it's appropriate.

Re: AR program Did I read that right?
How long does an encore pilot have to wait at WestJet before upgrading? Can one flow through and upgrade if their seniority holds a vacancy right away?

Merging mainline and a regional is not the North American standard.
They can retire and apply for direct entry captain off the street and respect seniority at Encore.

Go fly a domestic operated PC12 or something if you like flying so much. Enjoy your travels benefits and move on.
GA flying is a lot more fun anyway.
I get it. Y'all want to milk the system.
I'm glade the AR program is ending along with a majority of the pilot group.

Re: Why WestJet?
Don't come here. Management doesn't seem to know what's going on. Communication is vague here. Over a 100 pilots will soon be forced to commute or uproot their families in November and they will do it again. They didn't learn when they closed the Encore YYZ base which resulted in lots quiting. Now t...
