Re: Flair Cadet Program Assessments
The Flair Cadet program is very expensive (even for aviation). It's 145K, about twice what other flight colleges are. Might want to consider other college programs that can offer more options and not be tied to a specific carrier.

Re: Returning to Flying After more than 5 years
You do not have to restart. All you need to do is complete a flight review with an instructor, and write the PSTAR. The flight review is as long as it takes to get you back to being a safe pilot again.

Yes it is. Flying the approach over the black water is also a great experience, We go to Goderich for this reason for the night cross country.Taking off Goderich straight over the water on an overcast night was memorable during my night rating.

Re: Night Rating
Suggestion, for first flight start during late twilight, so the student can still see the familiar sights of taxi ways and runways but the lights are on. Local flight in the darkness is good to show what basic navigating at night is like around areas they are already familiar with - it's familiar to...

Re: Part Time Instructing
You won’t in any practical sense be able to graduate from class 4 to class 3 on a part time basis. Not true! I'm a part time class 3 instructor. It'll take you longer to upgrade, but it's still very possible. And being a class 4 isn't that bad. Yes you have to have reports on your students, but you...

Re: Looking for an Instructor Program
Yes, Brampton has several class 1's to do instructor ratings. It's all self paced. Ground can be on on one, or in a group. They also hire a lot of their newly trained instructors.

Re: Minimum hours required for charity work
Don't think it's a TC regulation. It's more about insurance at the charity. The charity can set whatever requirements they want. I few several flights for Hope Air, before the requirements increased, when they did, I was no longer "qualified".

You can't fly your own aircraft to the island. It's a closed national park. Only way to get there is by a flight service and it's at least $2200 per person.

Re: TC electronic PTR
There's no reason not to use an excel spreadsheet. This. Or make it portable and use Google Sheets, then you can update it from your phone. The student needs to be able to enter their solo flights and a Google Doc does not provide any form of security in preventing a student from changing informati...

The aircraft shown on that website is not a tail wheel. No info on the website about what other aircraft he offers. Prices seem high compared to other, larger flight schools which have a lot more flexibility on scheduling.

Re: PTR defination
I don't think there's an FTU in existence that has any difficulty spending $3.95 on a document that has the Government of Canada logo on it and the correct form number, and is called a PTR, and using it as such, without a shred of doubt as to what should or shouldn't be in it. But what if you won't...

Re: PTR defination
Note that the CAR425.33 was amended on 2000/09/01. IIRC, TC did in fact produce "form 26-0313" (i.e. - the PTR) at that time. The fact that they don't any more might lead to some confusion, but the document still exists and can be either used directly or referenced to produce your own I suspected t...

Re: PTR defination
The VIP book has a Canadian flag and the numbers 26-0313 on it. That doesn't make it a "Government of Canada symbol". I agree with digits, "Why is VIP pilot allowed to print it, but I'm not?" Where in the TC regs does it say want needs to be in the 26-0313 form? No where - that's the problem.

Re: PTR defination
Exactly! Seems "the minister" needs to define the document to which they are referring.Once could wonder if the PTR by vip pilot is "produced by the minister". If not, it doesn't qualify to satisfy 425.33 (a)
