I’ve never worked for them, but the New Chief Pilot they got a little over a year ago is a good guy.

Re: Challenger 600 crashes on Florida highway

Digits, my first post was incorrect, we only manually transfer fuel forward from the tail as part of an abnormal checklist. The tail tank is irrelevant on a flight this short we would never use it. Left/right transfers are standard procedure and done all the time. We generally go wings to an Aux/Co...

Re: How was in the past

Mid 90’s when I started to get a left seat in a Navajo was 3000-4000hrs, a King Air was 8000-9000hrs and any jet you pretty much needed Space Shuttle time. It’s much easier to break in now.

IMG_0012.png If they did rwy 21 its a fairly steep approach due to terrain, high minimums, and there is a 700 ft displacement Whats so steep about this approach? Looking at the plate altitudes you can make it quite shallow actually. Well at KEBGA you’re at 2080’ which is 2.7 NM from the MAP (thresh...

Good job that pilot! I had the left engine of FKMA shut down during certification testing for a Vmca test of this rather unusual air sampling device many years ago: Great Pictures of KMA PilotDAR. I had that pen holder in your second picture indicate I had a problem with KMA. After hundreds of hour...

Re: Captain cl 605 execaire

Is this the same Execaire who have the Legacy/CJs in YYC? They were paying around $80k for Legacy captain when I chatted to one of their pilots this summer. Yes, for captain. Also no days off, 24/7 on call. Whoever you were speaking to was jerking your chain, I can assure you, with the exception of...

Re: I had partial engine failure and I need advice regarding paperwork

Well as the PIC of the flight you have ever right and obligation to snag a plane you think has a problem. If the engineer can’t subsequently replicate the problem they can write it in the log book as such and clear it for flight. If you aren’t comfortable with that and don’t want to fly that plane, ...

Re: Help me with a SAMRA question!!!

Air is supposed to flow directly from high to low if the earth were not spinning so use the law to stand with your back to the high pressure system and stick out your left arm. Buys Ballot's law is a mnemonic to help remember the effect of Coriolis effect on wind. The law says to stand with your ba...

What humans have done, and will continue to do, is interrupt the natural processes by rapidly dumping carbon in the atmosphere, which causes the planet to warm. I always find that argument perplexing. Humans are part of nature not outside of it so by definition anything we do is a natural process, ...

Re: Global Warming ?

Sure, call it natural, as in we’re naturally speeding things up. Hope the grandkids don’t mind. No one said the earth will disappear, but we might. We will disappear for certain, as is the natural order of things. No species lasts forever. But considering average global temperatures during the Holo...

Re: $100K Catering bill for Canadian government plane

Aircraft catering is outrageously expensive, I have regularly spent $100.00+ per omelette so I'm not surprised in the least that catering for 30 people on an 8 day trip cost $100k.Thats not to say its acceptable for public officials to spending that much. A rich guy in his PJ spending that is one th...

At 230hrs you know next to nothing about flying, that’s not intended to be disrespectful just a statement of fact (I was no different when I had 230hrs). Take the pipeline job, spend the 7 months as an observer not only watching the pipeline but observing the pilot and soak up learning how to pilot ...

To the original poster, It may seem like there is no way to break into the industry from where you're at right now but rest assured that is not the case, we have all been in your shoes with little to no time trying to find our first break. Right now, although not as good as it was for low timers say...

I worked two years of construction after getting my CPL before getting an opportunity to fly, that was surveying in a Cessna 421B.
