Re: Not surprised...
It’s clear most on here are supporting the unions actions and likely actual members who are not biased at all 😇 the reality is we have far too many problems with the current MEC. The company needs to be held accountable, of course, and certain aspects have been well managed such as fatigue but we al...

Re: Not surprised...
Company doesn’t care about you? What a sad and ignorant statement. Simply not true and all. Not worth further response. The above justifications prove the current situation in union/company relations. And after all this back and forth likely very few layoffs and further broken trust. This union need...

Re: Not surprised...
The company needs to disseminate information first or at the very least in collaboration with the union which is clearly not happening. The union couldn’t wait a mere 24 hours and react accordingly? All somehow justified. That memo by the union created needless fear and confusion. And now my underst...

Re: Not surprised...
MEC preemptive memo before the company and likely less of an impact as stated. Current union apparently is full of inexperience and youthful exuberance and it shows. Hopefully temporary for those affected and those based in YKF. Always a silver lining just not in view for now. Best of luck

Re: Any Update On The New Contract?
Kinda sounds like you work for an airline…. Hours of work are paid at block time not flight or air time. Parking brake off to parking brake on or scheduled time whichever is higher. The idea of 100 or 120 hours is meaningless and it will be likely less but depends on trip credit, CARS and duty times...

Re: Flair Suspending Growth Plans amid Delivery Delays and Debt
I just can't understand Canadian pilots sometimes. We should be cheering on more companies and competition. Helps improve wages and ticket prices. Not snickering and hoping for their demise. Maybe it's insecurity so you can pat yourself on the back and validate your own career decisions. Keep dream...

Re: FLAIR NOT PAYING PILOTS FOR WORK
I don’t know many that have left for overseas lately. That ship sailed in 21/22. Although maybe some will pivot and reconsider with so many issues lately and the lack of competitive wages. There is no expansion at the moment and upgrades are all due to the large amount of resignations. Lynx is a sid...

Re: FLAIR NOT PAYING PILOTS FOR WORK
Resignations continue….
FOs is one thing but losing Capts is a major issue. Airlines should not lose captains and it’s happening at Flair. I have no idea how this airline will expand again under the current compensation package. Hopefully the new year brings more positive news for Flair.

This article is not entirely true. I know of a couple flights that were cancelled. Paid article maybe?

Re: New Payscale?
I think this thread warrants re-visiting.
Resignation rate continues abound with no contract for 2 more long years. How many pilots is Flair management willing to lose?
You would think a match to Porter would do wonders and greatly increase morale but nothing yet.

Re: Do you think Flair is a stable career choice?
The airline has a shockingly high turnover - north of 30% as a guess. Most come over for experience and move on - some quicker than others. The more senior Flair pilots, and I mean only those around more than 4 years, are drawn to seniority. These airlines are always the same, the appeal of quick se...

Re: FLAIR NOT PAYING PILOTS FOR WORK
I believe the purpose of a first CBA as a sched airline... I don't understand why so many people qualify statements about Flair's operational performance or employment conditions with caveats based on the transition to being a scheduled operator, or even call them a "start-up". Flair is 18 years ol...

Re: FLAIR NOT PAYING PILOTS FOR WORK
Sad Canada. Still pilots out there thinking 75K is a professional wage. I guess it’s why we are shockingly behind the US and other carriers. Managing money is a totally different discussion. I hope AC gets a huge raise and Flair will be forced to a 30%+ increase.

Re: FLAIR NOT PAYING PILOTS FOR WORK
The intent of the CBA for days worked seemed pretty clear - a days work is 4 hours minimum credit or the higher of block time. ie your away for 4 days and only paid block time which is incredibly unproductive. So in theory gone 4 days and paid 9:45 min. Yikes. You will certainly work up to your max ...

Re: New Payscale?
... Starting with porter with year 1 Captain rates of 190$, that works out to 29% higher rates than ours. Year 12 Porter's rate is 18.5% better than ours. Now we must also keep in mind that porter essentially operates a big regional airline in the e2, or a small airliner with basically ~40% less ca...

Re: Welcome to Porter
Mid contract pay increase is on the way. Once AC ratifies, Flair will lose a ton of pilots ( already are ) and morale will really suffer. If they want a real "career" airline they'll have to step up and provide better pay and pension benefits. Good for Porter - this is good thing for everyone at lon...

At the current resignation rate they’ll likely have to hire again this fall. Flair is gonna have to improve pay conditions notwithstanding its current contract. Market forces rule

Stop comparing to the US. It makes ZERO difference to an arbitrator. Is it interesting and something to strive towards? of course. Poor Canada is a laggard in just about every business and at every level of pay and compensation. Doctors, Lawyers, Same. Welcome to socialist Canada. It IS a step in th...

Re: TA…HERE IT IS AND IT SUCKS
This is a step in the right direction. What did you expect? 50% wage increases? Canadian pilots are shockingly divided, misinformed and generally ignorant. The US far more advanced in pretty much every way - its not worth comparing. When is the last time a company dished out a 23-25% pay raise up he...

In principle it’s not great to bring in foreign pilots. No doubt. That’s said look at how many countries are having to look abroad. The US is an example. I don’t see the numbers making much of a difference. It’ll take well into late next year for the process to even have any benefit to Flair. In the...
