Re: Info Request: Hearing Loss - DHC-2 Beaver & DHC-3 Otter

I'm not sure how accurate this is but I have a db meter app on my iPhone. Climb power is about 103 db and cruise only one db lower.

Re: Crohns and Colitis

Over 10 years with Crohn's and currently on Pentasa. All TC needs from me is a note from my GI stating what medication I am on, that the Crohn's is currently stable (no flare-ups) and bloodwork once per year. I go see my GI about a month before my Aviation Medical appointment and have my GI forward...

Re: Bush plane capable of carrying ATVs?

You can fit an ATV in a piston Beaver with the Alaska door. Depending on their size, you may be able to fit both in a Turbo Beaver.

I use a Gallet LH250 in an 802. They're not cheap but I wouldn't use anything else. Give Rob a call at Merit apparel in Florida, he will sell you what you need.

Re: NG Governing on a PT6

To answer your governing question, yes there is a fuel governor in the fuel control unit. It governs at a limit slightly above 100%, I don't have the value memorized, but if the Ng ever gets there, you have big problems. It is designed more as a fail safe at the actual R.P.M. limit of the compresso...

I saw some pictures taken by one of the passengers. There was definitely a fire, it burnt through the top of the cowling. Also heard that they could not get the prop fully feathered.

Re: Changing fuel gauges.

I have flown plenty of Otters. Some have had the fuel gauges in US gallons, some in imperial and others in lbs. It has never been an issue changing the gauges. This is the first Water Conversion I have flown and was a little surprised when I was told it could not be changed.

Thanks for the help

Re: Changing fuel gauges.

There is a header tank gauge that is in US gallons. The original triple gauge for the three main tanks is in imperial gallons and the fuel flow and pressure are in US gallons.

Changing fuel gauges.

We have an aircraft that has part of the fuel indications in US gal and others in Imperial gallons. I have asked for it to be changed but have got an answer back that it cannot be changed due to the original STC being approved under the current configuration. Is this for real? Can we not swap the ga...

Had the CIBC Aventura Infinite Visa card but have since switched to the CIBC Aventura World MasterCard cause it has a few more benifits. With both cards you can redeem points on hundreds of airlines worldwide with no blackout periods.

I have used them for years just get the 2 prong adapter, it works fine. The headset I am currently using is a DC H10-13X. It originally had about a 10 foot straight cord on it. I never understood why they put such a long cord on it. I finally got fed up with the length of the cord and had our avioni...

OP said the start up was on the west coast not overseas, as such it's a red herring. As for overseas you may be thinking on European Coastal Airlines, on the Adriatic sea. That's been in the dream stage for years and to this date has not had a single paying customer, just lots of investors lossing ...

What is the typical cost for a CAT 1 medical in Calgary? I've had one place tell me $200 + 60 for ECG, booked an appointment, then they called me back and said it was actually $300+60 for a CAT 1. Called a 2nd place and they said $200, asked if that was for a CAT 1, and the receptionist said yes. :...

Make sure you have IFR experience. :D Iflyforpie isn't kidding! Do enough hood work to be comfortable enough to not freak out when you're flying over water at 300 feet and your 2 miles goes to IMC. It can be unnerving as hell and you better be comfortable and competent enough to do a rate one 180 o...
