Re: AC A320 slides off runway at YYZ
Most pilots don't need a runway to be grooved to stay on it.

Gilles, Regardless of the contractual details, the same pilots fly the aircraft. Are they safer because they are operating a wet lease, because you did claim pilots operating with a FLVC were much less safe than Canadian pilots. You can repeat it 1000 times, it does not make it true. Quote me. He t...

Re: Toronto Star article on Temporary Foreign Worker pilots
Wow. You boys and girls over at Scumwing appear to have one hell of a union leader in Ron Smith. Good luck with that. I give him as much credibility as a poster that resorts to a self satisfying, yet drole, moniker for the company in question. I don't necessarily agree with the use of unreciprocate...

Re: Sunwing/Canjet Fleet & Foreign Pilots - Winter 2014-2015
Winter 2014/2015 seems cast in stone at 37 aircraft/5 wet lease/120 TFWP. As far as I can tell on the CTA website, Sunwing applied for 4 wet leases for this winter, all from Travel Service. Three were approved by the CTA and approval of the fourth is pending, for some insurance papers if my memory ...

Re: Are they lying to us Gilles?
I don't find it ironic at all, I've been witness to some false insinuations. It's a simple question, with a simple answer, yes or no. Regardless of your opinion on the topic, a question has been put forth. One that should be simply answered if no feelings of wrong doing are felt by the individual be...

I've even heard of Canadian pilots landing on a taxiway, or even attempting to land at the wrong airport. But obviously this incident, again, is a foreign pilot issue.

The severe turbu...

It even happens to WestJet... Turbulence during a WestJet flight to Winnipeg from Calgary caused injuries to four people, officials said Saturday. I guess science is wrong, it can happen to Canadian pilots as well... This too is obviously a foreign pilot issue. Humans without Canadian genes do not have the ocular capacity to see turbulence...it's science!

I can't find where in the CADOR it lists the nationality of the pilots, but somehow this has been turned into a foreign pilot issue.

I think I have a solution for this problem in Canada...any airline that doesn't run their business like Air Transat and threatens their operation should simply be shut down. If there is no legal basis to shut them down, there should be. Problem solved. Now let's all put our heads together to see how...

I was under the impression that this was about protecting Canadian jobs, not about how foreign pilots were licensed while in Canada. Apparently if Transat uses foreign pilots with Canadian licenses, that makes it ok. As opposed to the competition who uses foreign pilots who have passed a Canadian PP...

Re: Pilot Shortage and Statistics
I think you're giving Sunwing too much credit for the state of the airline industry. There are approximately 10,000 pilot jobs in the country to be had. Sunwing has about 150 foreign pilots this winter. By bringing in these pilots, it's allows the 250 Sunwing pilots to be employed year round, as the...

Well, as long as we can all agree that the governments view is the satisfactory final answer in all of this, then at least we have a viewpoint with which to reference this entire debate.

Capt. Hudicourt,
We don't see eye to eye, but from one pilot to another, enjoy your vacation. It's what this is all about. The time we spend working for our employers is to pay for our time off.
Cheers.
