Re: US Regional FO - Year 1 - $206,000 Canadian

What is a trip rig for those of us not familiar with the airline world? Trip Rigs A trip rig is pay credit based on time away from base. This means that from the time you report for duty until the time you are released from duty in domicile equals a quantity of time. Let’s look at a 1:3.5 trip rig....

Re: Illegal wages

If you want to help, report these companies to the authorities yourself. All pilots can do this ALPA could take steps to protect junior pilots outside the union. Or to paraphrase: you're not going to do anything, except blame new pilots for those jobs paying less than minimum wages? Did I get that ...

Re: US Regional FO - Year 1 - $206,000 Canadian

The heart of the problem is low average daily credit. Even rigs don’t fix it. Company takes whatever rigs you have and drives a Mack truck through it (30 hour layovers/red eye return to Base). Keep it simple - pay a DMM of 85 EVERY MONTH and available to work maximum 15 days per bid period (12 bid ...

Re: US Regional FO - Year 1 - $206,000 Canadian

As a junior flat pay pilot, my line in the sand is 100% increase to flat pay and only 1-2 years of it not the current 4. 50% minimum increase to formula pay. And of course lifestyle improvements also needed. Get rid of the flat pay in this agreement, and doesn't drag down future negotiations. Other...

Re: Illegal wages

Go talk to any airline captain on what their recommendation is. The ones that don’t try to talk you out of aviation altogether will tell you to get any job and build the hours as quickly as possible. "get any job" You in favour of pilots working below minimum wage? Then you also ok with working for...

Several posters mentioning pay concessions for other benefits, what other benefits? 100% deadhead pay? First class deadheads for all pilots, or 150% pay for economy deadheads? Federal law required daily min guarantee of 3 AC pilots could go for daily min pay of 6 or 8 Long call reserve? 150% pay for...

Re: US Regional FO - Year 1 - $206,000 Canadian

I personally think that a contract that matches an American legacy carrier is possible after some pattern bargaining. This contract is just the first step of this marathon, not the finish line. Pattern bargaining means "not this time, maybe later"....right? Where was the pattern bargaining for the ...

Accepting wages below minimum will looked down on by union pilots If your goal is to fly for an airline Oh please. I'm sure every pilot working at a union job turned down every crappy job offer or every unsafe job. A difference between when minimum wages were 40% lower. Illegal wages

For junior pilots, your employer must pay you minimum wage. $33,000 a year is below minimum. Hours worked include all hours at work, including flight planning, loading, deadheading and time between legs. Even if you don't do anything, the employer must pay 3 hours once you enter the building. This i...

Re: Air Canada pilots should negotiate at least to match Envoy and Medevac

AIF fees go up $10. No one cares. NavCan increases fees. No one cares. Pilots want an extra $2 per hour/per available seat and the sky is falling. 150 seats x $2 = $300 hr. Average WJ flight is prob 3 hours. That’s $6 a ticket to give a proper raise. Time to stop the tail wagging the dog. It's up t...

Re: Air Canada pilots should negotiate at least to match Envoy and Medevac

Why do you think Air Canada pilots should be paid the same or more than Medevac pilots? Airline pilots flying same aircraft, same routes, same airspace, same destinations across Canada US should have similar pay. Same passengers transferring in the same day on codeshare. Air Canada's minimum should...
