Re: Sunwing/Westjet
I always used to say that Sunwing was the best-kept secret in Canadian aviation. Great crews, great layovers, relatively laid back schedules, along with the opportunity to deploy to Europe in the summer months and see some very interesting and beautiful parts of the world while making some great ca...

Re: CUPE and now CALDA
Is this just for the mainline Westjet dispatchers or for the Encore/Swoop groups as well? Do they even have separate dispatchers for the Encore/Swoop flights firstly?

Re: Medical Exams and Prescription Medications
To be clear I did not lie about the prescription. I clearly listed it on the questionnaire and the nurse confirmed it. My concern is with why I have yet to hear anything yet. As far as I was told at the appointment my medical results were all normal.

Medical Exams and Prescription Medications
Hello, I recently had a medical exam done for AC (non-pilot) in which everything went swimmingly. All measurements and tests were normal with of course zero positives on the drug screen (as the nurse showed me). My only concern is that I take a low dose of a prescription medication for what is consi...

Re: Sunwing Q400's?
Sunwing has zero reason to get Q400s. Their business model is built on moving people to/from vacation destinations in the Caribbean. They have and continue to do great flying into pretty much any Canadian airport with demand by flying via larger cities (ie. Bagotville to Cancun with a stop to pick-u...

Re: Dress Code
Why should there be a business-casual dress code if the flying public can wear a t-shirt and jeans? Should the whole point of employee travel not be to have people BLEND IN?! You're going to look very odd flying down to the Caribbean wearing a pair of slacks and a dress shirt when everyone else is ...

Re: Flight Dispatcher
I would suggest the link posted above: http://www.flightdispatchtraining.ca/dispatcherstart.asp That course is done by Dario, who also does the internal dispatch prep course for WestJet/WestJet Encore employees trying to get into dispatch. Also, from what I heard, so dont quote me on it, the succes...

The Toronto Alliance Francaise branch (with several locations you can choose) is not free. Anywhere from $350-500 a course. https://www.alliance-francaise.ca/xsbank wrote:Call Alliance Francaise. Most towns have one and the classes are free.

Re: Porter Talking about YTZ-YQA
The only possible way I can people taking this service is 1) they work downtown and are being met by their family who took the car up north or 2) You are hosting guests who are connecting through YTZ from somewhere else in the Porter network. Logically the whole "I don't want to sit in traffic so we...

Getting into the Dispatch world
I am currently employed my an airline in a non-dispatch role (in a different department all together) however I am currently in the process of doing a dispatch course and acquiring my licenses. Once I have attained both of them, what is the best plan for getting into a dispatch position for the firs...

Re: Airliners with AFM's
The airline I am aware of has pulled the AFM as the content is already available in the FCOM/FOM/other documents onboard. IIRC, the CDL (configuration deviation list which is a supplement to the AFM) is now installed in the MEL as a separate section.

Re: How do foreign aircrew get Canadian RAIC pass?
A RAIC provides access to secure areas of the airport with little to no screening required. They ask for a 5 year history of addresses/jobs/schooling/etc plus they do a criminal background check. I highly doubt they're interested in one's credit score or financial history as it's irrelevant to the p...

Non-Pilot Jobs/Process at WJ
Unlike the majority of the postings about companies and jobs, I'm looking for advice for positions that are non-flying. I have set my sights on WJ and am ready to move to YYC should something become available for me. I have submitted several applications in the past however most of them were simply ...

My airline sends their tools for calibration to a company with the same name as those vertical orange things they put under the wings of aircraft while parked. They have locations in Toronto, Ottawa, and a few others. Google it.

Porn on a plane
Apparently there has been some in-flight entertainment of the adult nature being viewed in the cockpit of AC aircraft...according to an internal memo reminding pilots to keep the porn out of the cockpit.

Re: 1 in 50 FA rule compromises safety. TC Sunwing test
Call me naive but how does having 1 more FA help with evacuation times? They aren't pushing the passengers out the door and down the slides. It's just one more person in the cabin to take up space and yell during an emergency which IMO does not help. Passengers are responsible for getting themselves...

Forget about the marijuana but how about assaulting the flight crew? Is that not a serious offence worthy of diverting if it continued to happen? A father and son hotboxing a plane...I guess you can't expect anything better from Stratford's finest and his deadbeat dad.

I remember hearing a story about the (then) Millardair hangar at YYZ being rented out or used as a venue for several raves by the grandson of Carl Millard. Can anyone confirm hearing this story? Apparently this Dellen guy has a liking for recreational drugs (based on a twitter post someone screen ca...

Why did ARFF need to come out? We're dealing with a broken airplane nosegear, not a plane that's pissing fuel or landing 3 red.
