trains?? i don't know about all that. but i would say that aviation maintenance will grind itself into the ground as operators don't really give two feces about their employees because we are a dime a dozen, owners are rich because they know how not to spend money, and airplanes will always be amazi...

As of the end of 2004, the FAA wasn't allowing people to obtain their license from outside the country unless they showed proof of needing to care for a US registered aircraft. That may have changed again but if I were you, I'd look into that before investing too much time.

we're a dime a dozen... we're slutbags... whores... you're a whore... i'm a whore... there's no respect for ame's in canada, and until the ame population decreases, we'll remain that way... hopefully people considering entering this field will get the inside scoop on it like many people who went tow...

well, here is the problem. boycotting low wages in aviation is very unrealistic. schools come along and tell ame students of the glory of aviation and not what they should expect once coming out of school. whether we like it or not, 80% of the people in this field do this because of their 'love of a...

low AME wages throughout Canada

a recent personally projected survey finds that the price of cabbage has gone up by 7 times since 1985. when i started driving in 1998, gas was 44 cents/litre. the price of living has at least doubled in the last 10 years. and wages in many different trades such as plumbing, tool and die, and the au...

to obtain your A&P, you must now show proof of employment in the usa in aircraft maintenance, or you must go through the schooling. this is the new rule since Q4 of 2004.

Hydroplaning occurs when your wheels lock. Anti-Skid prevents your wheels from locking during a skid. If the airplane was travelling down the runway in runway soaked conditions, just because full brakes were applied doesn't mean that the wheels stopped turning or locked. This is the purpose of anti-...

i'm not stating boeingboy that i was the pilot, i'm saying that if a crosswind did bless the 340 close to the threshold, it would take time to straighten the airplane... how long it would take??? not too sure, maybe just a couple of seconds, but over the shortest runway during a thunderstorm, that's...

yet another reason why i try not to fly on airbus... imagine what happens when that 380 does the same thing at pearson... evacuate 600 people how fast??? as an aircraft technician, and seeing how these things hang on strings to stay up in the air, let alone stop on the ground, i prefer to take the T...

what would a forum like this be without me inputting my input... $29 an hour??? I think what happened so time ago is that human beings started putting confidence in other human beings to the point where if I'd say that I once did 3 D Checks in one day on 3 different 777s alone, people would believe ...

3) a maintenance release does not have to be only signed by a license holder. an SCA or RCA can sign a maintenance release however only and AME with proper ratings can sign out an aircraft. signing out an aircraft and signing a maintenance release CAN be 2 seperate things. a maintenance release sign...

M1 vs. M2

I don't get it. Just over 96% of aircraft in Canada are commercially operated which means that they must be maintained by an AMO. Since an AMO must provide an ACA for release of an aircraft after maintenance, why would there be a seperation between M1 and M2 category licenses. I think that it would ...

my turn. i worked with this female AME and she was one of the brightest, and most standard-driven AME's. She knew a ton about aerocrafts and her attitude was positive. Being a female can be a setback because of obvious shovenistic attitudes. Nonetheless, it can also be an advantage if the DOM is a p...

i think the 300ERs only have the choice of GE90-115Bs... The LR's definitely have the GE90-115Bs. The 78s will have either GEs GENx or Trent 1000's.

I'm a little confused at the debate over the 777/787 order. I'd think that anyone purchasing 2 airplanes which are the best machines on earth econonmically for fuel usage whether you're broke or rich is a good investment. The only difference between the 2 aircraft will be passenger load, while non-s...

if you go on CAA's website, you can find information regarding the A, B!, B2, and C licenses. The licensing is more instense than Canadian or American systems, but it requires a time guideline, a logbook process similar to Canada, proof of experience, a ton of exams (some of which can be exempted if...

First of all Pat, I'd like to admit that the picture of the large monkey has inspired me to further pursue a career in aviation. powerplant is either a "you know how engines work or you don't" exam. they ask you questions from fuel types, to orange paint on a cylinder, to carburetor operation, to highest pressures, temps, or velocities in a turb, to the difference between a hung and a hot start... it's kind of all over the pl...

I'm not too sure if I could picture an organization purchasing tools for the worker. I guess it would make sense since it is the company who requires the aircraft being maintained and therefore should collect employees and equipment to do so. TC does however require companies to have the proper faci...
