Re: Float Ops Still Hiring for the Season?
You have decent time for a starting point. Check out Wings Over Kississing. They have bases in Flin Flon, Thompson, and Stony Rapids. And other bases over Northern Manitoba & Saskatchewan. It’s a very well run 703 operation, with lots of float aircraft. Probably just as many on the “landlubber “ si...

Float Ops Still Hiring for the Season?
Hiya, 1000 hour landlubber pilot here looking for my first float flying job and am wondering who's still hiring for the season? I'm BC based but looking anywhere in Canada. I've got my float rating, egress training and decent experience overall. Lots of PIC Navajo time, taildragger time including op...

You'll have a mix of personal and technical questions. Nothing too challenging and mostly about safety systems on aircraft, IFR information, or situation based.

Re: Reserve time?
FO's get a mixed block for the first 6 months after their initial line check. So a mix of flying and reserve. After 6 months it looks like most new FO's are getting called about 50% of the time. Thanks for the info, appreciate it. So after the initial 6 months it's 100% reserve or basically whateve...

Re: Interview process
Hi everyone, I’ve received an invitation for a 45 minute video interview for the Dash 8 in YQT. Does anyone have an idea what this interview is about? Is it just personal questions, or will there be some technical questions as well? Hey, what did the interview process look like? Technical/sim eval ...

Re: Commuting from YVR, Pairings, Destinations
It is possible to commute from YVR. When I was at Encore we had lots of pilots who commuted. I'm not 100% sure I'd recommend it though, the flights between YVR and YYC are notoriously delayed with flow times and NavCanada issues these days. I'm not sure of the most recent pairing distributions. Whe...

Commuting from YVR, Pairings, Destinations
Hi, How feasible is it for a new hire to commute from YVR? Would they manage to have 4/5 day pairings most of the time if they bid that way? What do those multi-day pairings look like? Mainly overnighting away from YYC for the length of the pairing? Is there a route map for Encore somewhere or a lis...

Re: Reserve time?
Thanks for sharing. How many hours are DH8 FOs flying while on reserve? Just wondering how long it takes to build up the time on type for left seat upgrades.

PAL Aerospace CBA
Hi,
Looking for info (payscales, schedules, training agreements...etc.) on the new PAL Aerospace pilot CBA ratified last summer. Haven't been able to dig up anything on Negotech. Particularly interested in the medevac side.
Thanks

Re: Air Sprint Questions
Hi IcePharaoh, Depending on the type we do have some availability there at the moment. Historically YVR has been a fairly popular base so movement there is based on a number of factors such as our growth and current pilots holding the base upgrading or changing types. Hope that helps! Kind Regards,...

Hi,
Any FO hiring into the YVR base at the moment? How difficult is it to transfer there later if starting out elsewhere?
Thanks

The invite for the interview/selection came with a link to view available interview dates - I only had 2 dates available of which only one I could actually make work and it was less than a week away. May have been different for others.

Re: Flair Interview Process
I did the in person interview and testing for Flair back in November. I ended up getting PFO'd but never really set myself up for success. They only had 2 dates available for the assessments, and I was flying on the first day so took the red eye to YYZ from YYC after a duty day (Flair provided the ...

Re: Dash FO to captain upgrade time
Isn't 500 hrs on type a requirement though? From what I remember of their upgrade matrix yes. Perhaps a Porter pilot can confirm? Given the hours the Q FOs fly it might take a while to make that upgrade. Also, does Porter count YOS on the E175 for the E2 starting pay like they do with the Q? If so ...

Thanks for the info. Applied back in October for Dash FO, however I'm pretty sure there are plenty of more experienced candidates. The application status never changed from 'submission received' though.

Re: Example Schedule
Do YVR pilots often find themselves flying on the east coast as well? I can see it happening more fluidly on the CRJ with the routes linking up in the middle, but what about the Q400? How would that work? Deadhead on an AC flight?
