Re: Anyone has an insight regarding the WestJet Group YYC Recruiting Event?
Encore fixed its wage problem in 2023. The issue with Encore is that there is no flow to mainline and poor maintenance . Both of those issues are caused by Onex's desire to squeeze as many pennies from the airline as they can. Employees don't like the company the way they did ten years ago. Custome...

Re: Anyone has an insight regarding the WestJet Group YYC Recruiting Event?
I attended the event and found it to be a positive experience. Maybe the perspective of coming in from a very different community (military) and being less concerned about wages (pension) gives me a different viewpoint on working for Encore, but I plan on applying when I finish my license conversio...

Re: Anyone has an insight regarding the WestJet Group YYC Recruiting Event?
Encore sounds brutal. Does it even have flow to WJ? And if it did...isn't it like a 15 yrs upgrade on a POS steam driven 737?? The WENMEC approved a minimum 20 "guaranteed flow" per year and sold it to the pilots as better than the flow or pay agreement that preceded it. The WENMEC makes up most of...

Re: Any planned hiring this year?
DP dropped by our latest class grad and was socializing with us when one asked about a rumor of 20 Dreamliners coming....to which he stated Whoa whoa....its not 20 its more like 10. He said that an announcement could be made in the fall on that. Take that as you want. Boeing wants to increase 787 p...

Re: Encore interview request
I don't know why people want to go to Encore. Is it just one of several places you're trying to go, or is there more reason that you want to go to Encore? Honestly I’m open to any 705 operation. I’m currently working 703 and my work life balance is really suffering. [/quote] We've all been there. J...

Thanks for all the help! Just completed the hirevue and had 8 questions. 1. Why pilot? 2. Why Encore? 3. What 3 skills are necessary for success in our ground school/training. 4. Why are you the best candidate for this role? 5. Scenario question: what would you do if you were turning final and cros...

Re: Hiring pool wait time
Westjet and Encore are 2 different companies with separate AOC's and hiring processes. They only have the same owners. Let me know when someone in the WJ accepts an offer from encore....AC used to own Jazz, and I sure wasn't accepting a job at Jazz when I was in the AC pool. Pay, etc at Encore is a...

Re: Hiring pool wait time
I don’t have any insight to the company specifically but with tariffs going on I’m sure all airlines are reevaluating hiring plans and adjusting capacity so any answer you get today could be very different than what it looks like a month from now. WestJet is playing a game. They are holding on to q...

It's a shame that the WJ MEC got rid of the PTA to use for their benefit in bargaining.mmm...bacon wrote: ↑Mon Mar 31, 2025 5:51 pm If I were a junior WJ pilot facing a layoff, while Encore was looking for captains, I’m pretty sure I’d be banging down the door to fly a Q, rather than take the vagaries of UI

Re: Encore hiring Foreign Workers??
Encore pilots were willing and eager to strike. The NC was under the belief that everything offered in the first TA was everything that they could squeeze from the stone. Encore pilots said not good enough and the NC was able to squeeze a little more. Encore is not just having a hard time hiring and...

Re: Canadian ALPA pilots
Now that ALPA represents a majority of Canadian pilots, maybe it’s time we go our own way as a group of Canadian pilots and split from the American union. Looking at my T4 I can’t help but wonder why we are sending our hard earned money to pay support staff in the US. IFALPA recognizes one national...

The crash appears to have had the aircraft approximately 1-2 degrees nose up as the maximum flare and at the time of touchdown. https://i.imgur.com/wPxoVU4.png A normal landing appears to have a more significant flare. https://i.imgur.com/vpYQapD.png Hardly a conclusive argument, but in addition to ...

Gotta remember those 16 year upgrades are based solely on retirements only. Doesn’t take into account airline growth, resignations, medical issues etc. Approx 28 tails coming onboard this year. Still lots on order. Trying to be optimistic. The airline has been "growing" Encore for years now and has...

How about saying that 5% of pilots are female but that 100% of accidents this year have been piloted by women? Seems not only factually incorrect, but just a tad misogynist, no? And then trying to say that incapable females are being hired hired because they are female? Yeah maybe it's happened. Bu...

Somehow the FO was hired in Jan 2024. Was she still in line indoc or could only fly with LTCs in Feb 2025 ? hint hint Training captains can fly line flights without conducting training. Line checks happen continuously throughout a career. Remedial training can be ordered for many different reasons....

My understanding was that AC and WS made yet another back room deal to divvy up the country just like the AC pulling out of the west and WS pulling out of the east a few years ago. WS got all 9 Lynx aircraft and AC got WS's next few delivery slots from Boeing. That's a great theory except for the f...

I would stay away from Q. Very sluggish movement in Q side at Porter. You'll have to sit tight till you can hold a line but consider a few factors of followings: - Roughly over 120 FOs in Toronto alone - 40-50% in seniority is where you will start to hold a line(varies in seasons) - Porter is not a...
