Westwind Aviation

Any word whats happening at West Wind these days?

Not that long ago they had quite a few postings up for various jobs, now they seem to be few and far between.

Saw one of their ATR's (WWR) for sale on controller, so I can't imagine thats a great sign.....

Re: Obama ends program that let pilots carry guns

Skyhunter has it correct. I flew for years with a 357 Magnum in a holster and never ever had any problems.....I always knew that if something went wrong my survival weapon was where I could find it. I still have my old permit to carry with all the info on it including the serial number of my 357. (...

Re: westjet to yzf

It's -40. The RJ took a hit last winter leaving many passengers scrambling for alternatives. We had many consecutive days at/below 40 and there were no RJ flights for that time. If my memory serves me correctly, we had almost 2 weeks below 40 at some time of the day. Pile them into a bunch of Navaj...

Any of the Vans Aircraft models (RV3, RV4, RV6/6A, RV7/7A, RV8/8A, RV9/9A, RV10, RV12) can be modded to include the throttle quadrant on the left hand side. Cheers RCR http://www.learning-to-fly.com Don't forget the PTT button on the stick! YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!

Re: Gorgeous P-38

Great article in the latest Pilot Journal about this aircraft. Aside from the breathtaking exterior, the cockpit looks nothing like it's wartime original: Garmin 530/430, Crew Alerting System on the brow of the dash, etc. Great article on the past of the ac as well.

Re: WestJet

Hi, I can answer only in a generalizing sense, since I don't like getting into everyone's specific background. Westjet's hiring has consistently been reviewed and as of late has changed yet again. Our interview has changed and as of January 1st you will see a few other notable changes. It simply is...

They should buy a bunch of mothballed A-10s they have sitting in the desert in Arizona. Put new engines in 'em and let 'em rip. 8)

Out of curiosity, what has been the average time people have had at the groundschool as of late?

WestJet

Question for all you WestJetters:

What kind of time is Westjet looking for? Would around 3000hrs TT mostly of Multi-Turbine PIC be enough? (King Air) Or would they prefer 705 time before they would consider a canidate?

Thanks!

Re: Canada signs deal for CP-140 Aurora life extension

RatherBeFlyingInCanada, I totally disagree with you. The CP 140 Aurora is the best platform available, at this time, to achieve the missions as set forth by DND and the Canadian government. The CP 140 is being upgraded to a full glass cockpit and with the new Life Extension Program it will be just ...

Re: Canada signs deal for CP-140 Aurora life extension

A waste of money in my opinion. I think money would be much better spent on a 737 Maritime Patrol variant that Boeing will be producing than refurbishing a turd. My guess is its cheaper to maintain an aircraft that is in current production than refurbish one that isn't. Sea King comes to mind. :smt014

Re: Aircraft Cleaning

Zep Aircraft Cleaner II by far. Use pure for heavy degreasing or dilute with water for general outside cleaning. Meets Boeing, Lockheed specs. Your local Zep representative could get you a 50 gallon drum within a week.

Re: Skydiving plane fails at 7,000ft

You wouldn't get me abandoning a plane that could safely be flown. Plus he's near a runway and a bunch of fields, not really risky terrain for an off airport landing if it comes to that. Gliding a plane to a runway should be a non event, but it does require proficiency. Plus if he was the owner, ju...

That would've been a perfect time to trim up the plane for a good glide and jump out myself, no piece of equiptment is worth my life if I hae a chute on my back. 8)
