Re: When things don’t ‘CLICK’

I never found out what was wrong with the borrowed magneto. I gave it back...and as the story said. Replaced the impulse coupler spring on my original mag.
After posting this story years ago. This is the first time anybody asked a question. Sorry it took me a year to notice and answer.

YYC-YWG routes all Jazz

As a regular flier on this route. Noticed that all the flights are now Jazz and no Embrauers. Anyone know if this is a short term thing. I found them to be more confortable than the Canadair RJ's. I'd call AC directly but they likely wouldn't tell me the truth anyway and my ear would be sore from ho...

Norseman Festival again!

Looks like this year is the 75th anniversary of the first Norseman flight. Comeing up quick July 23rd. Hopefully there will be a good turnout this year. Not very often you can get an inexpensive ride in a noisy, gangly, slow flying, piece of history. This will be my 6th time going...always a lot of ...

Re: Max tarmac wait: 3hrs

Wonderful new rule. I fly every 2nd week commercially for the last 2 1/2 years. My worst fear is being stuck in the aircraft for hours on end. I've heard the horror stories...and have been lucky that it hasn't happened to me. Sure the airline may have to change there operations to accomodate this ne...

I think next year I need some good binoculars. Those pictures are almost as exciting as actually watching it happen live.

Re: Norseman Festival again

If you can't find accomodations. They have underwing camping at the airport. I'm sure they will let you even if the planes not there. They close the main docks on Howey Bay for the weekend for the visiting aircraft. And provide 24 hour security. The airport is in another town 15 minutes away. But th...

Norseman Festival again

Planning yet again to fly my old bird to the festival again. It's generally a good time.
If you see a wee convertible tied down at the airport...say hello and please offer me a ride into town.

Doesn't overly surprise me. A few years ago I drove my truck over a Walleye. First time I've ever had 'Road Kill Fish'

Re: Planes to consider

There are a few 701's and 701 clones on our field. With 100hp they go 95 mph. Shortly therfe will be one on Amphib's...and then can comment on gross water performance. I suspect with 100hp there shouldn't be a problem. Zenair also has come out with the 750. Like a 701 but setup for a small Continent...

Re: Buying an Owner Maintenance airplane

There really isn't a cut and dry answer here. Yes overall the value of a OM aircraft will be slightly lower. This is the reason why you likely wouldn't see very popular and well supported aircraft types like a J3 too often. These aircraft have especially high values and would be dropped significantl...

Re: Rec Permit Pilot fliyng into the US

There is a waiver form for a Canadian Ultralight Pilot Permit, UPP endorsed with pass. Rating, or a Rec Pilot Permit. To fly a Basic Ultralight or Advanced Ultralight into the USA. This waiver does not apply to the same pilot flying a Special Certificate of Airworthiness-Homebuilt, or an Certified a...

Re: Needing 36 Hours PIC for ATPL

Go to a meeting of your local RAA, COPA, EAA, or recreational airfield. Network with a few of the senior (aged experienced aircaft owners) that hardly fly anymore. And find a few to fly with. Ideally someone who's lost a medical, still owns an aircraft and isn't quite ready to retire there wings.

Re: VFR Position Reports

Yes the 'any conflicting traffic' nonsense gets annoying after hearing it so many times. But what is worse is when someone gives position reports every 10 minutes. The funniest calls though are the ones for an aerodrome o the wrong frequency...I usually just blindly call on the radio the correct fre...

Yes a blatant plug.

As of Oct. 01,2008 The Brandon Flying Club (204-728-7691 in Brandon MB) will have a Seneca II Twin online for training.
Just one more option.

Just go to your local Canadian Tire and pick up an OBUS seat cushion. They work great.

Re: Personal aircraft survival kits

Previously posted under Survival Kit in a thread a long time ago. I perhaps foolhardily fly on wheels or skis across plenty of bush. These are the contents of my emergency/travel kit. It will all fit into two normal sized duffle bags. In the winter I also wear a PFD approved insulated Mustang suit i...

Consider the Brandon Flying Club in Brandon, Manitoba.

Clear prairie skies, small city atmosphere. And very professional and qualified staff. There is also a large mexican community in Brandon.
