Re: DEC

I honestly don’t know. They won’t have enough pilots with more than 2 years in and the required experience soon. What they’re doing now is upgrading someone when they get their ATPL and flying left seat for a very short time and going to AC. It’s costing AC a lot of money since they pay for the simu...

Re: DEC

If jazz has captain vacancies now, how bad will it be at the end of this year after 937 vacancies are filled at AC? Can they afford to lose more people? Wondering if someone can shed some light on how the contract will play out in this scenario... Jazz is going to run low of candidates to send to A...

They have absolutely no authority to search through your phone or ask any questions as to where or what you are flying. If they do, ask to speak to their supervisor. I generally say little to nothing to them and go on my way.

Re: Potential Strike Topic?

Is Jazz providing better pilots now? A few years ago the acceptance rate to AC was in the ~60 to 70% rate from Jazz and now all the sudden it became 90%. Somewhat of a kick to all the pilots in the past who were “PFO’d” due to numbers games.

Re: Air Georgian Bankruptcy

All I see is more reason to not go into this industry What? One of the lowest paying 705 operations is now gone. This is a good thing. All the pilots moving over to Jazz or AC have a much brighter future now. Any pilot, FA, maintenance or dispatcher should have no trouble finding a new (and better)...

Can these 767s dump fuel? I’m going to assume they couldn’t as they held for hours?

The passes are creeping ever so close to a confirmed ticket price anyway. Who the hell cares what you wear. Might as well fit in with all the other slobs on board.

Re: Corona Virus

Zerohedge? C'mon. According to their own projection, by today (Jan 31) there should be 16,350 confirmed cases with 337 deaths. But one of the major sites tracking the virus shows 9,776 confirmed and 213 deaths. Not wonderful but mathematically wayyyy off the alarmist predictions. I am all for takin...

Re: Corona Virus

It’ll pass. SARS was a different situation. Right after 9/11 and AC was already in the red. Since then we’ve had Ebola. Swine flu, Zika virus etc. I don’t think this will be causing all hiring to grind to a halt. Not helping things but the media likes to blow everything out of proportion. Think of h...

Senior captains make 132.53/credit hour. O/T starts at 85 hours.
Once taxes are withheld, benefits and all - what is net pay on that rate?
Approx $6500/month take home plus another $1300-ish perdiems if you do multi day pairings. Less if you do single day flying.

Re: Corona Virus

I sure wouldn’t want to be on any flights to/from China right now. I’m surprised Air Canada is still going there. Apparently you can be contagious with this virus before you show any symptoms of having it which makes spreading it that much easier. And if you think only 100 people in China have died,...

King of the hill? The average NB CA in the US makes just under C$400k. The ones doing overtime are making C$500k. Just imagine what the WB CA are making.
He said the Canadian hill, which obviously pales in comparison to the US hill
