Re: Does anyone know what the MEC is actually trying to get out of the ULP?
Part of me thinks they are intentionally trying to run Jazz into the ground, or they are really that clueless. Minimal hiring as of late… $110/hr for starting CA pay. No one is going to come here for that. It’s really sad to see. Maybe they are trying to get the CPA voided and get out of it. I don’t...

Re: Aged WestJet pilots win right to not retire
Sad to spend their final years of life working but there’s lots of guys I know who re-married and are in their 60’s and have kids in university. Cost of living isn’t getting cheaper. I would suggest they become simulator instructors. Companies don’t really want these guys flying because it makes for...

Re: Upcoming Ground Schools
Hiring has really slowed down lately. Unless there are more classes below you, your base transfer could range from weeks to several months after you finish training. I personally don’t agree with the assigning of bases after you start. Bases should be offered during the interview. Then you can make ...

I think he just means if you’re single or on a single income you’re a renter and not likely to own a house. You can live on 120k a year in Toronto but forget about a house and 2 vehicles in the driveway.

Re: Bad one
Looks like the #1 engine had an un contained failure and fire and the middle engine got some of the debris which caused it to fail. After that it’s game over. Just speculating from the videos I saw. RIP to the crew.

Yes if Air Canada is dictating our wages and and many other facets of our employment at Jazz then who really is our employer?

Only 73 vacancies in this recent bid. Things finally coming to a halt? Jazz is getting bought and integrated, extra 1100 pilots on property will ensure a good surplus  Only been hearing that one for 20 years now. 😂 On the other hand, hiring has slowed to a trickle, fins being removed from flee...

The best time to visit Hawaii is generally between March and September, when temperatures are warmest and rainfall is lowest. For fewer crowds and better prices, consider traveling during the shoulder seasons of late spring and fall. That flow deal between Jazz & Hawaiian was legit! Haven’t decided...

the last thing i would want to entertain is a suicidal pilot. the last thing india wants is the news of a suicidal pilot. so it's all about politics, blame boeing in this case. pretty sure they are combing though their staff in the back room so this does not happen again. Re: AC Incident Nashville
I’ve seen hundreds of pilots from Jazz go to AC with the bare minimum 2000 hour requirement and zero PIC experience other than what they got during flight training or renting a Cessna 150 to get their ATPL PIC hours. Not sure if this is the case here but that’s the new normal I suppose.

What kind of captain upgrade candidate would ask the pilot monitoring if he should continue after losing visual reference?
If they tried that was in LGA or some other place there would be over 100 dead people.

It’s hard to tell but it looks like the gear re-collapsed and the crane dropped it at around the 2:20 mark.

Re: Westjet 737 Gear collapse in SXM today
The PAL Q400 that had the gear collapse in YHZ was scrapped. That was a few hundred feet from their hangar. All depends on what the airframe value vs. repair is.

Re: Westjet 737 Gear collapse in SXM today
Scrap it?? If KBA can go to the Antarctic and do that nose replacement on a turbo 3 then I'm sure a crew can jack and bolt on some angle iron for a ferry flight . A bit more than that I know but I'm sure it will be ferried out. True dat, but a DC3 is a much rarer an irreplaceable aircraft. Tons of ...

That will be quite the repair job if they don’t scrap it. No hangars there and a lot of structural repairs…..

Why do people always act as if the money disappears into thin air. As if none of that money involves a return on investment, job creation, or tax revenues, and as if none of that money comes from private investors or general consumers who want something better. Renewable and sustainable energy and ...

Re: Fall classes
Number of classes is a moot point. Could run 2 classes a month of 6 pilots. All depends on the overall hiring numbers. Hasn’t been much lately.

They would if they could. They’d bring over 10,000 East Indian replacements tomorrow, but thank god for the French rules. Never thought I’d praise the French requirements.

Re: Does anyone know what the MEC is actually trying to get out of the ULP?
I just want my raise that was agreed to. Zero desire to go to AC but they screwed up bigtime and made Jazz an undesirable place to come to and all the blame goes on them. Screwing with seniority lists won’t go well but they made their mess….

Re: Talk about lucky
I saw one of those in an AMO shop several years ago. It was on amphibious floats and had all kinds of damage from a hard landing. Had kinks and wrinkles all over the place. I think it was scrap at that point but looking at it, it put the amateur in amateur built. Had this odd Y shaped stick in betwe...

Re: Does anyone know what the MEC is actually trying to get out of the ULP?
What are you suggesting, that we should have kept the 60% flow which wasn’t being honoured and if it was honoured left us even more short of pilots? Jazz was a career destination over a decade ago, after the introduction of competition proving that AC didn’t need to pay regional pilots as much as t...
