Ice Man lost his medical, so I'll still go see it but it won't be as good as the first one.
Ice Man got pretty fat in his later years. I don’t think he would meet the weight requirements for the ejection seats.

Re: Wil Jazz hire with instructing time only?

Won’t be hiring for a very long time so if you can get any experience somewhere else I would do it. I doubt there will be any Jazz hiring this year for sure and 2021 is doubtful.

Ha good analogy Fanblade. Pretty much sums him up. People used to call him the “Smiling Knife”.

Re: Layoffs

Only 600 layoffs is a pretty damn good outcome. Other companies have laid off everyone and we laid off 1/2 our pilots (approx 675) at Jazz. I would have thought many more if AC has 4000+ pilots.

675 is roughly 1/2 of all active Jazz pilots. Not a good day but I was expecting it to be worse considering how much flying has been axed.

If you don’t mind a night owl schedule I don’t think it would be bad. I don’t think I could do it for years though. A week of airline stand-ups just about kills me.

Re: Corona Virus

I’m sure this was just a trial virus for the Chinese bio weapons lab. They will likely come out with something worse in the fall. I don’t really buy the eating bats or the other armadillo like creature theory. They’ve probably been eating that disgusting shit for thousands of years. Did get the pro ...

They're already revenge selling bats and other creatures they shouldn't be eating. Filthy buggers. The next cornavirus they send us will probably be worse.

Re: Layoffs

Just got an email from our union. Looks like flying is now cut by 80%, not the earlier 60% so the layoffs will likely go up to 20 year employees possibly. Yikes.

Millions are losing their jobs here. Even if this virus goes away by summer no one is going to travel vs. keeping food on the table. It’s going to be a much longer time before things return to normal. (If they ever do)

PS. 500,000 applied for EI last week. 27,000 same time last year.

Probably end up being X number of positions this base/type. No way in hell they will be retraining everyone. Takes a minimum of 2 months to do an initial course and no more sim training in other countries for now. Maybe one could bump into another base on the same type.

Re: Jazz pilot interview tips?

Looking at the Jazz seniority list the regionals (separate then) did not hire any pilots from 2001-2005. That was when we had the triple wallop: 9/11, SARS, and AC bankruptcy but I think this is going to be just as bad.

I’m more worried about the economic damage rather than the virus. It will pass but people are going to take a massive financial hit in the pocket book and not going to take leisure vacations when they’re more worried about keeping food on the table and a roof over their head.

Source? Cause when I talked with Jazz they said they had no date.
I don’t think Jazz even knows. Tomorrow is a new day and I’m thinking it’s not going to be good. AC announced they are cutting flights by 50% which one can assume will be the same for Jazz.
