Re: SWOOP - A New Hires Future

Swoop is a shit show to be sure. If they do tell you before hand which company you are being hired for and you hear Swoop-run. Honestly even for WJ mainline I’m not sure what the plan is these days, if they grow Swoop mainline will stagnate (90% is the guarantee). Lots are leaving for AC currently s...

Re: China_CAAC's Merged Threads

WTF. So him rambling on quoting his own enormous irrelevant quotes just runs on. I come back to see what’s changed here-not much. It’s public, I get it. But he’s just jackhammering the WestJet forum. Is it just here, or is taking over other sections too?

Peace out

Re: SWOOP startup/WJ Tail loss

The main problem with all of his multiple handles is he carpet bombs the whole forum-often talking to himself. I hardly come anymore as it’s killed the forum. If the moderators could at least ‘moderate’ him to one handle it might help somewhat. It’s becoming a forum of one. 😕

Re: SWOOP OTS Captains punted from left seat...

Cloak, Regarding your “retrospect” comment. The only way we could have done the flying on an interim basis was if the Union agreed to sacrifice rights under the labour code. That was a term set by the company. Let’s see - give up bargaining power to fly Swoop under interim conditions then bargain w...

Re: LOU Proposal Nov 2, 2018

‘As a pilot at WJ, I do have a clear interest in knowing how the MEC plans to address the issues surrounding the WPDL legacy.’ Pick up your phone and call your rep, or ask away on a public chat room sounding off like a victim. One will give you an answer, the other will drag this silly thread on. Th...

Re: some reading

I would hope they figure out how to automate it in ‘30-50 years’, The current worldwide fleet of commercial aircraft seem unlikely to be automated, but the next generation I would expect will be built with that in mind. They probably won’t be burning jet A either.

Re: SWOOP OTS Captains punted from left seat...

You need to read my comment again, as you obviously didn’t understand it the first time. I didn’t say the lease returns went to Swoop, they were retained in the fleet to free up aircraft and a consistent set of -800s were sent to Swoop. Right you are. Shouldn't post when tired. However, the managem...

They did not apply... The company stated they May elect to do the formal process.
Maybe I am mistaken, but I thought it was ultimately up to Mr. Kaplan if they are able to or not.

Re: WestJet pilots to fly Swoop aircraft

Sept 9th is the last day of scheduled mediated bargaining. After that the mediator will decide on outstanding issues. ‘The WestJet Group’ has recently applied for a more formal arbitration process though that could slow the process down somewhat. It’s the same arbitrator though regardless of the pro...

Re: Summer Storms

Not currently, but who knows in the future. I’m guessing if managements gets what they want (their published super low pay and crappy work conditions) then Swoop will go very junior. Hopefully Mr. Kaplan rules sometime in September one way or the other so we can all move on.

Re: WestJet pilots to fly Swoop aircraft

Swoop and WJ are now common employers. WJ Pilots will now place a bid for future Swoop positions. Current Swoop Pilots will be given a seniority number on the department list ( so they aren’t going anywhere anytime soon) and they will likely keep current positions, IMO. Overall the big losers here ...

Re: CIRB Decision

I'm not John nor one of his many handles. Far from it, I do not work for WS - nor am I employed under any ALPA airline. The only two points I've ever argued is that people have the right to work for whatever company they so desire and for whatever salary without being blacklisted by ALPA. That and ...

Re: Swoop Blacklist

I keep hearing April start dates, it’s only March 11th right now. Hopefully they haven’t given notice at their old jobs yet. There is still the ULP for a cease and desist hiring a Swoop to be resolved (prior to April I’m guessing), and the definite possability of real negotiations happening now. So ...

‘Swoop will still have OTS pilots already on the property.’ I don’t think there are any actual living/breathing OTS Swoop Pilots on property yet, I think the hired ones don’t start until April. But maybe like snuffleupagus they do actually exist now. Any Swoopsters or NCP derivatives out there to co...

The lease return is another example of the CEO playing fast and loose with the truth. From the analysts call, 10 2-2.5 year old 737-800NG’s are going from WestJet to Swoop. These are not tails that we’re going back to the lessors anytime soon, we just reconfigured them for our new interiors, they a...

Re: Swoop/Sunwing/Transat: Hourly Pay

Transat for sure and I would guess Sunwing also have trip credit. WestJet does not, so I’m Swoop sure won’t either. So a guy/gal working for the same hourly wage is going to be working more hours at Swoop. So he/she is in effect working for less $ than either Sunwing or Transat. I would be curious w...

Re: Let's all apply at Swoop!

I think what he means is; 10 737-800 AC are taken from WestJet, they then get new decals. They are still dispatched, maintained, and I guess we’d say VP’d by WestJet. They then fly on the exact same routes they flew before (with the westJet decals). If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and qu...

Halifax-Paris and Gatwick

I guess the engines on the Max can squeeze out a few more miles, opening up the ever expanding world of a 737 driver. Now you can operate Hawaii, Liberia, Whitehorse, Paris if you so desire-pretty cool. I wonder if AC will match the routes?. Great time to travel out of eastern Canada if they do. Hop...
