Re: Big news Feb 7

I wonder how many aircraft and crews would be required to dedicate to this new service-I suppose there will be some freed up from the destination winter flying.

I think they strongly desire multi-PIC, but you can be hired without it.

Re: Westjet Runway Excursion in Hamilton

I flew into YHM last night and had to land on 24 due to the 737 being disabled on runway 30. We were told it went off while trying to turn on the slippery turn around area at the end of 30. And it was like a skating rink the last few days. So nothing to sensational, I'm sure it was still a pain in t...

Re: What amount of money would bring you to a reserve to fly

The money is of some importance, but why are you really asking?. Do you have a strong desire to fly in the bush, are you looking for a first job?. If you are looking for your first job you should look into other more important info, what will you fly (condition, maintenance), where will you fly, is it...

Re: Jazz and pluna

So when Jazz accepts delivery of the new Q400's and retires the older clapped out CRJ's that the Q's replace. Jazz will "outsource" CRJ's for Pluna. Nice touch!!

The Bee Gees 'Stayin Alive' was number one when the planes I fly were new. Clapped out seems a bit severe.

Re: Amphib Beaver flipped in River's Inlet

Landing gear up on the runway or gear down on the water is a big mistake, but it's certainly not a hard one to make. If you are doing multiple legs complacency and repetition can take you there in a heartbeat. Pasco had a good policy of pilots radioing in on marine radio "landing rivers inlet gear d...

Re: Do We REALLY NEED Two Pilots In ANY Airplane??

Hmmm, I fly night cargo and at 4am on the way into YVR even with three of us I'd be surprised if we had enough synapses firing to be as alert as one person in the daytime. PF'Did I call for the landing checklist yet?' PNF'I can't remember'. PF'allright,Landing Checklist'. S/O reads checklist as he/s...

Chimo's a good operator (or they were 10 years ago)-If you have no time and are starting out-brace yourself and remove the silver spoon from your ass and go to work.Just because you have a licence it certainly doesn't mean you deserve a job-it doesn't in the rest of the world. If you're sitting there...

Hand Bombing

We departed out of YVR today and the autopilot went on strike. We ended up hand flying (we were no longer RVSM compliant, and all MEL restrictions met) to Montreal with one stop on the way. This is not a herculean effort I know (anyone flying 3rd tier does it everyday-all day), but I was wondering ho...
