Sometimes it seems that we are all talking about a situation that doesn't really exist. Any number of respondents here have said that they actually work for a decent school. And the O/Os seem to be reasonable too. Who are these supposedly horrible operators? And the instructors present seem to be mo...

I'm thinking never. The hardest landing I've ever experienced was on an AC flight coming back from Germany. The pilot had around 25,000 hours and it was his second last flight before retirement and the FO had about 14,000. They were a couple of cynical old pricks if that had anything to do with it. ...

Just got fuel in Golden, BC on Friday - it's $1.23. Kind of steep but it's hard to get through the mountains without it. :D And besides it's worth it to get views like this.... highway 93 north to Jasper from over Sask River Crossing http://www3.telus.net/ReflectiveBR/images/8%20Towards%20Jasper.JPG...

Have you been Disinsected lately??

Just looking at AC website and found this wonderful little page http://www.aircanada.ca/planning/destinations/disinsection.html The following is an excerpt: Aircraft Disinsection As condition for landing, some countries require that all airlines "disinsect" their aircraft and passengers prior to ent...

All for One and....????

I find this very frustrating. http://www.nwa.com/corpinfo/aword/ Aviation in general needs to have its image enhanced in the mind of the general public. All parts of aviation affect each other and there's nothing to be gained in the long run by one segment bashing another. All segments of aviaion ne...

It's amazing to me that we don't have airplanes falling out of the sky continuously. Instructors are so bad, lack skills and experience and the new pilots they've trained that you see these days can't fly worth skat!!! From what many of you seem to indicate, we shouldn't have any planes left to fly,...

ahramin, I agree that instructing isn't physically demanding, but mentally and sometimes emotionally (read frustration) it can be very taxing. I think that any instructor worth his salt would realize that after 4 (maybe 5 at the most) 2 hour sessions they're toast for the day. The student expects, a...

I'm not sure why things are different but I can suggest a few possibliites. I think everyone (and not just in flying) is more cautious because of the spectre of potential legal liability and the insanely high insurance costs. That's an unfortunate reality we have to deal with and that makes all of u...

I think the idea has some merit and should be discussed some more. I have thought a bit about it but not in any real detail. There would have to a fair bit of work on the business plan to get all the numbers worked out as you would need a fairly good initial investment to get started. Venture capita...

Great job, happy that it's back. Computer problems like you've been chasing can be the biggest pain in the butt we fce these days. Everyone wants it fixed yesterday, and there's often very little solid info to go on while troubleshooting. I think you deserve a great big round of applause and don't l...
