Re: Bearskin Pilots ratify 5 year deal

Bearskin captain pay is slightly higher than MOST Navajo captain jobs pay, but it takes a long time to make up for the difference. How many days off do you get? do you have travel privileges to go anywhere on your days off? how long are your days? Pension? Benefits? Upgrading 2+ years quicker means...

Re: Metro incidents

It can be MEL'd and flown in castor mode. Major pain in the ass.....makes you wonder though, if they couldn't maintain control on the first run, why try again and go off the runway? To answer the first question, if you get a flashing Nose Steering light (on the III), the procedure is to turn off the...

And with a little effort in your back and hip, there's no need to hand turn the prop to check the blades.

Personally I think this is superfluous, but I don't fly those things... http://www.metronews.ca/news/toronto/2016/01/3/ornge-chopper-pilots-to-get-night-vision-goggles.html So a company who had a nighttime CFIT accident that kills everyone on board, now wants to make the job safer and reduce risk, ...

Seriously though, Its interesting how difficult it is to say no , even though you know you should, but what a relief it is when someone else makes the decision for you. The sooner you realize this is BS, IT'S NOT DIFFICULT!!! Maybe once you have a wife/kids on the back of your mind, you'll never ha...

Hopefully every new caravan driver remembers this and tindi a cpl years back (sounds like same conditions), and don't put themselves in the situation in the first place.

Re: Single or Twin?

I suggest not one but TWO twins: a Q400 to YQT then a Metro to YAG. Both fly high and fast (enough) and are pretty good at keeping a schedule while you alternate between beers and naps in the back. Exactly....for 25,000$ you can get there and back 20 times without worrying about a thing. There is a...

Re: Orca RTO/Overrun CAT4

No wehere does it say there was an engine failure, or that the problem happened at rotation, or that it happened after V1.... (Do navajos even have a V1 or jsut a rotation speed...) Seems like the OP info is different from the CADORs. Also overran 300'....not 10'......

Re: VFR in IMC - Kasper Aviation

I wish people in piston-driven single-engine aeroplanes (or any other kind of plane actually) would refrain from conducting pseudo-instrument approaches in controlled or uncontrolled airspace without clearances in instrument meteorological conditions. Fixed that for you. Contrary to popular belief,...

I feel like slapping people every time I hear the same thing over again. "I would never let my kids get into flying..." or "Set your sights higher..." For competent people, that might work, but it won't solve the problem. If I ask for Jet A and he hops in his avgas truck, which is labeled avgas, (100LL)a pretty colour won't fix stupid. If I ask for the purple truck, he's still going to hop in his green truck. .. I imagine YAM is losing a lot of bu...
