Re: doug ronan removed as director from copa

I don't know Ronan, but I do know that I was unhappy with COPA's own board not following the bylaws as written.I wrote Psutka asking why & was sent the bums rush out the email door.I then wrote Hayes & explained that if that were tried anywhere else a riot would ensue. His answer to me was to read the...

Re: doug ronan removed as director from copa

The original thread was about the way that Ronan was removed from the copa board.Somewhere in the back pages I wrote about my unhappiness about this to both psutka & hayes & the replies from both pissed me off enough to cancel my membership with a full year left & they don't give refunds. For the re...

Re: buying/owning info

I'm probably way to late to this conversation & will probably rehash what's already been said but............ Try to purchase a plane that seats more than 2 if the budget allows so that if you're trying to sell it you can still have a little fun while taking along some friends,or camping gear. Alway...

Re: doug ronan removed as director from copa

The only way copa is going to get the message is to stop their influx of money, cancel your membership & give them the reason why.I also can't see why anyone would join copa to pay up to 30% more for hull insurance as it would have cost me when I first asked for a quote.Last time I asked for a quote ...

Re: COPA Board BREAKS THE LAW

I am under the impression with replies from Hayes & Psutka about the method used to remove Ronan that I am the only one that has bothered to write copa with my concerns. The replies from them were with indifference, perhaps from Hayes to be almost annoyed that I bothered to ask him why he chose that ...

Re: Saskatoon Parking Costs for my 185

Back in 2009 when my wife & I were headed to PEI for my school reunion I planned an after hours stop at Ottawa & called the Shell Aerocentre to let them know that I was running late. The manager flat out told me to stay in the soo for the night & call them in the morning with my needs as the call out...

Saskatoon Parking Costs for my 185

I can certainly understand why there weren't very many light aircraft parked at the Shell Aerocentre when I visited my aunt & uncle in Saskatoon last week.Fuel was $1.71/litre - but the cost of parking the 185 was $50/day,rampie told me that it's the same cost up to a king air.Last flight tour in 20...

Re: COPA Board BREAKS THE LAW

I hope that everyone that's complaining online is also writing the president & board members as I am to voice their displeasure with what looks like the old boys club way that this was handled. If it was that important of an issue for the board to take action, then it was important enough to spend the...

Re: Cessna 180 power setting for take-off

Although I fly a 185 the speeds should be about the same.I was taught to leave the prop, mixture & manifold pressure alone below 400 above ground, but after liftoff get the nose down & accelerate while removing flaps, climb is in a clean wing configuration & 2700 rpm, lean for altitude only.Of course if...

Re: doug ronan removed as director from copa

When I sent my concerns to psutka - he at least advised me that he forwarded my concerns to the board of directors. When I wrote hayes to advise him of my concern for the method used I got nothing in reply. I suppose I would of read the response in the copa paper that just came - had I opened it;you ...

Re: doug ronan removed as director from copa

When I bitch about something that bothers me -it's the director,or president tha tgets the first email;or phone call, just like this time - only the predidant replied & said he forwarded it to the directors for comment.I haven't heard a thing in over a week. As for being anonymous - pretty sure copa ...

Re: doug ronan removed as director from copa

Good luck getting a meaningful responce from the president - I sent him an email stating my concerns & the reply was that my concerns were forwarded to the directors;no reply from anyone else in over a week - very poor. I also have tried over the years to get a reasonable insurance quote on my 185 f...

Re: xplornet

Bud of mine lives in the middle of nowhere & has been using xplornet for about 10 years.Had the ku band first -which wouldn't handle his voip phone so he updated to the ka band & that managed to have enough speed for the voip to work reasonably well, although there was about 30 seconds of stuttering ...

My father was part of a U2 recovery about that time,he told me about it a few years ago.He was RCAF on DC3's on skiis then. The way my dad told me it was in the dead of night in the dark of winter & the pilot deadsticked it onto the frozen lake saving the aircraft.

I've been following this thread since the beginning & can say that my dad 'Hub' was in Winnipeg from 57-65 on Otters & the Dac's & then was transfered to Shearwater in 65; being a part of 101(T) & vu32 as an aeroengine tech.I was even fortunate to be on board a flight taking a dac to winnipeg from S...

If memory serves me correctly ,one of the local papers had initially reported that the weather at the time of the crash wasn't very good in the area.
