As far as I know you dont need an Instructor rating to teach floats as it is a 'rating'. Although the more experience the better as I would be dubious of getting lessons on floats from someone with 7 hours. I agree with groundtoflightdeck, try and see if you can find people at your local club who may be interested in buying an aircraft together. The only drawback to this is how often the other 'owners' fly the plane which can cut down on your time in the cockpit, but you can always set up a schedule.

I used to work for Enterprise Airlines and the old hanger was pretty full of all sorts of things (parts, boxes of papers, electric wheelchair). I would suggest getting in contact with Enterprise and seeing if maybe they have your records or they may be able to point you in the righ direction.
