Re: Weight and Balance... This is an option?

Even under max gross how many twin a/c do you know that can climb on one engine? The limits are there for a darn good reason. you want more capacity? get a bigger plane. Don't have a bigger plane? do 2 trips. It's as simple as that. If you think that flying the a/c is going to be dangerous, don't fl...

Re: SUPREME COURT OF CANADA FINALLY GETS IT RIGHT

I would have to say that this may set a bad precedent. I agree that municipalities shouldn't have total control over a/c operations but I for one don't want every hack pilot thinking that they can just build a runway and operate from their backyard, it can get dangerous the closer you get to built u...

Sudbury Aviation on Whitewater lake in Azilda. They've been in the business for a long time and have great people. They have a 185 on floats and a beaver and I think they might have a 172 or something on floats for training too. There is no substitute for professional training from people who do it ...

No problem, as long as the aircraft is civil registered it will count in your log book. TC can double check your signouts if they feel they were falsified but there should be no issue at all.

Good Luck

Re: Compressor wash Caravan question?

Can o worms now? leaving the boost on is fine, just make sure that your ignitors are disabled. A compressor rinse or wash should also be fallowed by a quick drying run. I hope you're capping the bleed air lines while doing the wash too?

Shit happens, even to the pro's. I recall a twin from TC i think landing gear up in YHM? maybe. I've seen it happen to amphibs too gear up on land. gear down on water, the latter usually getting wet. I can't recall any wheeled helis landing gear up though, wonder why?

Re: PRM Questions

Without an AMO, the PRM's responsibility is to make sure that the a/c get their maintenance done on time and by the appropriately rated AMO. A lot more reasearch is going to be required on your part and you'll have to keep track of the a/c's hours and requirements for ad's, sb's, sched maint, etc. I...

Re: Australian regulators to allow cell phone use on flights

If Air Canada allowed cell usage on their planes, i'm sure it wouldn't work half the time and cost an exhorbident amount of money. It's funny though that with all the fuel saving measures they enact on these flights like limited baggage, they would go and add more weight to the plane and another ant...

two words that should never go together, kit and helicopter. Try to find a real bell 47 or if you want something with the feel and reliability of a kit, get a 22. I don't know anyone personally with a Safari but haven't heard too much about them either way. good luck

Re: Australian regulators to allow cell phone use on flights

Do you have a team of minions monitoring your emails 24hrs a day? If you booked a flight wouldn't you have prearranged transport, weak arguement but to each his own. Just got off a flight from YUL to YYZ and the boarding and unloading took forever because everyone now has giant wheelie bags which al...

Hopefully TC and the government will pull their heads out of their asses and realize that SMS needs to be supplemented with more audits and spot inspections. Enough of this self-regulating b.s., no matter how much it costs or how inconvenient it is to big business, hire a thousand inspectors to cove...

Hopefully, it's their first infraction and they won't have their licences suspended. As for the taxi comment, just got a little fired up as I have no respect for people who blatantly flaunt the rules, IF that is the case here. As for the approaches, I have done very few circuits in a helicopter and ...

Hey, do whatever you want in SK then, I for sure as shit ain't going there anytime soon. There have been too many occurences recently involving poor pilot decision making, we need to raise the bar a little and be more professional and show proper "airpmanship/airwomanship/airpersonship". Something t...

Really? how hard is it to push the little button and say "taking off 07" or say "landing 25" If it was another GA plane and not the same company, you could be sure there would be some big penalties being dished out, either way there will be some fines here for sure. What does the M in MF stand for? ...

Hi Scoption, I did work for a union and it was like i said. the entry pay was 32.79/hr and the max for my position was 36.54/hr as per a collective agreement which was only good for 3 years. After that, a wage freeze was mandated, so that was it no more and no less. Albeit the managers made a better...

Re: Carbon Monoxide

I would speculate that if you inspected 100 piston engine exhaust shroud heater systems, you would find about 75 with cracks. Also some cracks may not be detectable until the exhaust is at operating temperature. The biggest giveaway will be the smell of exhaust in the cockpit, same thing applies to ...

A good number of dusters don't have radios. I used to do pipeline patrol through that area... all you could rely on was your eyes, as you'd never get a reply from them. Uh ya, i'm sure they have radios, but are too busy looking at the ground whizzing by to bother. At an aerodrome though while landi...

Re: College of Pilots?

A union will not solve any problems, just create more. How can you enforce the hiring of unionized staff? Also, if you've ever worked in a union you will know that they only cover the screw-ups. Also, a unionized wage maxes out pretty quickly with no room for reward, everyone gets paid the same, the...

Re: Australian regulators to allow cell phone use on flights

If people can use their cell phones on a plane, I want to be able to smoke on the plane again. Talk about annoying, that's all you need is 150 people talking on their bluedouche headsets for the entirety of the trip. I find the people who switch on their phones and start checking their emails before...

Go out and buy a bunch of those cheap stick on CO detector spots for starters and if you are concerned about CO poisoning, you can get an electronic detector installed which is a little more reliable. If you start to feel giddy, tired or lightheaded or smell exhaust, open a window. Shroud heaters ar...

That's very odd that they would cancel the races like that. It's a great show that they put on and I don't think it would be any less great if they reined in the limits a little to make it safer. Now, if you let them all race the course at the same time and use solid pylons, that would make it waaay...
