Re: Training bond case law.

The answer is yes, but depends on the details, in how you would go about doing it. For example, You singed a 12month bond in Jan12, for a PPC. You were paid monies during the year, but in Nov12, you stopped working there. You then payed to the employer 1/12th the value of the bond (on your credit ca...

Re: College of Pilots.

Code of conduct is a nice way to introduce a poorly defined requirement, by which, one may be removed from the college. Bureaucratic BS. Like the rest of it. The basic idea here, as with any "college", is if they set a standard by which the noose around our necks is tighter than that applied by the ...

Yes, that's correct; through the encoder. He has one correction, you have another. (hopefully not) I mentioned primary because it is independent of an encoder error. Also, primary radar is used as a control. Like a precision approach environment. So, yes they have to be on their toes with SSR to tel...

Re: Can I have a cat?

... Ya, many problems for the kitty, What I was getting at, was the idea, that the cat comes first. I am married, or, have a girlfriend, or, children, a dog....a cat; the basic of the five. Will an operator consider the fact that I have one of these five? OR, design a job description around an indiv...

Can I have a cat?

Just how much do we give up as pilots to make a little cash and position ourselves for an uncertain future? I'm not talking about having a wife, or kids, or even a dog...but just a cat. Can I work as a pilot, in Canada, and be a cat owner? I don't mean someone else taking care of the cat for me eith...

Interesting,
If it was fought out in a court of law, then the procedure was correct.
A belly landing was not authorized, as it was not possible for the crew to retract the gear.

Depends on the usage. Are you referring to the action or the product. One would be the adjective, the other, the noun. Actually, the proper vernacular would be "phrasal adjective". Just bored again. Really, this kind of stuff makes me laugh. The next generation has already embraced "IM" to the point...

Re: Pilot Opinion Survey Re: Changes to FDT Regulations

NAW, Naw, naw, you got it all wrong there guys. Too much bush flying..AKA "let's get'er done". The premise here is that "neither the operator, nor the crew member, has the right to decide weather or not to fly while fatigued". Some like the money, others want the time. Whatever it is that drives the...

Oh, and wanted to add the obvious solution, above my pay grade, but I'm asked to do so often. Two men working two different 8hr shifts, IS the same as one man working a 16hr shift. Re: Pilot Opinion Survey Re: Changes to FDT Regulations

Thank god.... Like a rubber band snapped back into place. Our current regs are a joke. Mostly because the operators are familiar enough with them that they know what run arounds they can do. A lot of feed back reporting requirements on this new stuff. Although, I'm still disappointed to see the sect...

Re: It's not all about the money...

The whole point of this thread is to illustrate the fact that pilots complain about everything, and then do nothing about it. While the proper response is to do something about it, and then; there is nothing to complain about. So innovative and foreign this idea is; they don't even realize that it h...

"Keeping up with the Joneses" is an idiom in many parts of the English-speaking world referring to the comparison to one's neighbor as a benchmark for social caste or the accumulation of material goods. To fail to "keep up with the Joneses" is perceived as demonstrating socio-economic or cultural in...

I think it's a good thing that people are talking about this. What we have to get away from though is the idea of approving or disapproving of a complete concept. I too don't like the idea of a college. Words like ethics and accountability. On the surface, it would seem like these things are already...

Perhaps the industry should start identifying these character traits as aggressive vs offensive. Promoting, during recurrent training, one over the other. It would seem to me that there is a direct correlation between both man vs machine interaction, and negative operational outcomes. I know myself,...
