Re: Canada To Decommission Hundreds of VORs, NDBs

Just another reflection of our public service. These people do not have the ability to think one inch in front of their noses. But hey, if you save a few pennies to make room for outrageous spending elsewhere in the public service world, it's all OK. Public service idiots are continuing to destroy ...

Re: RAIC Pass

First off, I do not think you will have a problem. BUT, and I say again BUT, this transport Canada group who are in charge are batshit crazy. Worse still, by design, they know they are above the law. Even the federal court of Canada has no authority over them, as witnessed by hundreds of challenges ...

I must have missed something, not aware of any product quality bashing. Sure is a nice high end product, destined for sale to an exclusive niche market.

Is it possible that some are annoyed at the backroom taxpayer financed element of the equation?

Re: Ethiopian Airlines: 'No survivors' on crashed Boeing 737 max

I too would be hesitant at pointing fingers right now. Flew the NG's, did sim evaluation on the MAX, after talking to my american airlines buddy who flies both, it is pretty darn clear that every single 737 pilot around the world is spring loaded to hitting those disable switches before you can say ...

Re: inflation are you keeping up?

As many have indicated, few are keeping up no matter what your walk of life is, so yeah, rank and file Canadians are getting poorer year over year. Typed in some figures into the bank of Canada inflation calculator. Year one dash 8 direct entry captain for a jazz precursor, 35K in 1988= 70K in 2019....

Oh boy........ Gals and guys, perhaps can I point out that we are missing the point? National pride is nice, the world does not revolve around Canada. Lots of land mass, not a whole lot of people. Most European countries have 3 times more people and GDP. And then, US, China, Russia.......these are t...

Pretty hilarious when you think about it.

Second in command can fly the plane from takeoff and landing, and somehow, driving around pavement on the ground is some sort of exceptionally skilled task that only the captain can do under certain jurisdictions.

I think I said it before.

No recession anytime soon. The world has changed a whole lot. Nuclear wars, world wars, are a thing of the past. Same goes for recessions. The bean counters have gotten smarter.

Don't worry.

Re: The government is concerned...

Once again boys and girls, the majority of the world employers pay market rates and pay routine wage increases. You can be good, you can be bad, you still get the market rate. And that applies to every aviation employee........ Except the pilots. And perhaps to the mechanics. Non operational aviatio...

What I can't figure out is how the rocket scientists at tc actually determine how you are language qualified. Live in Quebec, been to both language schools, so I get proficient in 2 languages stamped on the licence. How do they know that? For all they know, I could be a unilingual English speaker. D...

Re: Canada faces severe shortage of pilots and aircraft workers - Ottawa Citizen

It's a same old same situation. Actually, as an old guy who started working in the beginning of the 80's, in a recession mind you, seems like I had an easier time. In a few months, had a composite job instructing and flying light twin charters at a whopping 350 hours of flying time. As much as every...

Re: How can I rent a plane if I'm under 18?

Surprised you would even have a problem. Got my private one month after 17. Did not fly for 6 months since I was in college, so at 17.5 figured I would break the boredom and rent a plane. Did 10 minutes with an instructor, and poof, took the plane and did a mini cross country sightseeing flight. Bes...

Two.
Northern Quebec, saint honore airport to bagotville air force base. About 5 miles.
Mirabel airport to dorval airport. Also about 5 miles.
The northern flight took 3 minutes in a light single trainer.
The Montreal area flight took 20 minutes in a large jet!!!
Go figure.
Both in vmc conditions.

Re: Air Canada vs American Airlines A320

Couple of things here. First, a pilot is nothing more than hired help. Just like every clerical worker, stockroom expert, secretary, bookkeeper, mechanic, accountant and lawyer. All of these people can walk away from low pay because they have options. Management knows this, so they pay market rates....
