Re: More than half of world's airline pilots no longer flying - survey
looks like the mapleflot/aeroflot style of doing things may just come back, here in canada anyway. no one will have the money to train themselves, and on one wants the huge instability anymore. Get yer bucks out canada, yer gonna need to train off the street people just to keep the transportation sy...

Re: CANADA TO LIFT BAN ON BOEING 737 MAX ON JAN. 20
Another media induced panic that has been resolved. Cost boeing billions, and the lawyers got rich. Except for a minor technical software correction, there was no real problem with the airplane in the first place. What a world, one guy screws up a procedure, big company loses billions, and the botto...

I agree..... Trudeau junior is not even close to Trudeau senior.....who has now passed away........ At least the old guy had a sense of reality. Beards are nice, but wtf? Pie in the sky ideas are bound to fail, it's always been like that. I guess that practical thinking is out of fashion since that ...

Depends on your worldview, but yes, at the end of the day, it is not a bad gig. Like the stock market, you can make it big time, or you can lose your shirt, and that will depend on timing, on luck, whether someone likes your face or not, and silly office politics. Those silly politics can have a dis...

Quebec is already doing this shit. It is not working. Everybody around here is doing what they are supposed to be doing. Still not working. These authorities need to give their head a shake. It's not working. Doing the same thing over and over again that does not work is a sign of madness. These peo...

Well, I see that the garneau thingy seems to have a rather interesting reputation all over. Even out of blogs like this.
And, this guy gets one of the top jobs? That has serious impact on the whole country?
I am worried.

At this rate I'll be one of the ones flying till 67, and then going back to 703 aviation to die in my work boots, but I like your optimism. That sounds depressing. I look forward to retirement, and letting the youngsters do the daily grind. If my plan works out , 6 more years, and retire at 55. Lif...

umm...... the government types are in panic mode and are thinking like panicked persons. The panic is a result of attempting to get the virus numbers down at all cost. the number is their sole tunnel vision focus. they could not care less about the big picture, because they can't. they are in panic ...

Vaccinating the prison guards, then the most vulnerable like the elderly (even those in prison), and those with pre existing conditions (even those in prison), and then everyone else, and then the healthy prisoners, would make no sense, right?
Hey, it's tongue in cheek, don't take it too seriously.

Don't confuse Garneau with any sort of stand up person. The person is a product of the canadian navy, chosen to be an astronaut for political purposes, and is now a politician. We're not talking . Yeager here, who actually needed to use brains to do a job. We are talking political product who will d...

I am out of the game, sort of. But.....retirement jobs have shed light on the rustiness issue. The long and short is that it's just like riding a bike. You never forget that. Chill out, flying a plane is easy. Just like riding a bike. But of course, for the few who never knew how to ride a bike, wel...

Maybe a few things to point out in order to see context..... Nobody likes fatality rates but as that guy Benjamin Franklin said, the only sure things in life are death and taxes. I can't argue with that. The leading cause of death is cancer, second is heart disease, third is this strain of covid. In...

government does not care about helping, government cares about running the country. and their next votes to stay in power. so, the aid will go to to the former crown corporation. for the only reason to keep air transport alive for the purpose of keeping the country going. the rest, well, too bad, so...

To the OP, and everyone else, seems to me that the public servants will be working at 10% of their normal 10% because of covid. So that does not leave a whole lot of usefulness. You will eventually get an answer, and you will get one someday, wait a year or two. Worked there unfortunately, I know ho...

Someone correct me if I am wrong but the way I read the CEWS literature, maximum benefit is 847 per week. That will cover a bit of the payroll but most crew make more than that, so how long can operators sustain paying out the balance?
Stating the obvious, this is not good.

I am one of the recipients of the decree. Two doctors were told to not give medicals, and more.....So go figure, an old guy is deemed to be OK because of all of this panic and does not need a medical. No medical issues mind you, so I guess the the risk is low.
I dunno.....can anyone say ''panic'' ?

Cut through the rhetoric guys. First off, a training bond is an unfortunate legal scam, and worse still, our canadian legal system thinks it is all OK. Google it and you will find that judges think it is all fine. So much for the legal system in Canada. No protection for the average joe in this plac...

As the first posters indicated, this is not about what is right or just, or makes sense, it's all about what looks good to the media for the purpose of maintaining votes and therefore political power. No traction in making things more livable for a comparatively small group of working stiffs. The pu...

Fly a commercially registered plane, yes, flying school planes are also commercially registered. Camp "work" flying, no, since you need a CPL to fly for hire. If you are going to your or your friends private camp, that's another story. Lots of private pilots fly up to their personal cottages for exa...
