Re: The other side of new duty regs?

Also, IMO The temper tantrum that ATAC is throwing about the duty regs is very short sighted. From the meetings I've sat in I would say panic is a better term than temper tantrum . It's surreal to watch multiple adults fight back tears over the implications to their livelihood if a flight crew shor...

Re: The other side of new duty regs?

Exactly. Also, IMO The temper tantrum that ATAC is throwing about the duty regs is very short sighted. Improving conditions should be part of their strategy to improve enrollment and alleviate the growing shortage down the line. It is, after all, not a shortage of "pilots" but a shortage of people w...

I’d say about 20% of the physicians I know are white, if that. Maybe it’s a different story in the US? It’s our company policy that we must verify ID before allowing someone to provide medical assistance or access our our emergency med kit. I’m sure other airlines are the same. I’m sure they were ju...

Re: Thoughts on ACPA Joining ALPA...

Since it's within the unions' realm to dictate scope, I wonder if it's a possibility for ALPA (If chosen) to mandate that all subcontract flying on the Express end be done by ALPA airlines, which is now all the Express carriers, including Sky. This would be a huge deal, and could prevent someone els...

This is literally a spam topic. Cut and paste exact topic in the above link.
It's so annoying that there are user names and topics on here that are just to garner hits and web traffic. This site gets money from ads and usage!

I think the major airlines are feeling the shortage but the general public hasn’t yet. When will that be? Well that’s the million dollar question.

Doesn't Jazz have good per diems? From what I've heard I assume you can add $1500 or so.
That's $3400 net a month.
Not awful for a job right out of school in these cases. Your life isn't dependant on your year 1 salary, regardless of the posts here.

Re: CPL written exam Extension

In all fairness, if it took 3 tries to pass almost 2 years ago, I'd think maybe it would be prudent for that person to simply write it again before trying to get signed off as a commercial pilot, instead of trying to find a way around it.

There are bad employers in every industry. This isn't unique to aviation.
Choosing the people you work for is entirely your own decision.

Just curious, what's driving this current push in hiring? Expansion? Movement to AC? Anticipating Duty Regs?

Can't see a large cohort of retirees there for quite a while till the core YUL guys start retiring.

Cheers

The school "mentioned" it to you but you can't get any further info? I'd be a bit more diligent... you're saying the person who told you isn't talking any more? Sounds like a gangster movie. Anyways, For the instructor rating there's a tax break, you don't have to pay HST, or PST, or GST, or somethi...

Re: Should there be a "Rate My Flight Instructor". com website?

Doesn't sound like a terrible idea, we've had "ratemyteacher" for almost 20 years now. The issue with reviews is participation bias. A person is 11 times more likely to leave a negative review or tell friends about a negative experience than a positive one. Compound that with statistically the longe...

How many hours do you have?

2 reasons for it-
A)Hard insurance mins. You're 100 shy.
B)It's a soft PFO keeping you on standby, in the friend zone. CP probably broke up with his last GF via text.

That's a silly post. Doubtful that you're a working pilot, "TSC". Every employee of a company generally gets a discount on the product they make/sell from their employer. They're a 3rd party travel sharing company, like uber, but focused more on sharing travel and expenses.

Private pilot and access to a plane? Sounds soooper legit, especially in the eyes of TC I'm sure....

I do know there is a huge new hangar being built in YYZ, ultimate fleet goal is 50 fins. Been told more hulls are coming, but I was told a while back by one of our uppers that definitely not 190's.... that may have changed in the last 6 months... but doubtful.
