Re: Inflation in Canada spikes to 2.4%

I’d be amazed if you guys get more than 2%. I hope you do but no one north of the border is getting big wage increases these days. 2% is all we got at Jazz.... till 2035. Me too... 2% it will be for now. We can try to negotiate better, in 2020 & 2023, but I'd be surprised if it's achievable since w...

CR is gonna own our a** during contract negotiations...
How so?

Not that I disagree... We are only worth as much as we value ourselves.

Value ourselves poorly and we give it up.

Lots of Airline experience in the recent course... mulriple OTS each from Westjet, Sunwing, Canadian North, First Air, and others. Multiples from overseas coming home too... Emirates, Etihad, Cathay, and others... Lots of originally foreign born Canadian Pilots too choosing Canada to hang their hat ...

Actually we just voted "No" and tried to negotiate, then the company said they would lock us out after the IAMAW said they were going to strike.

Re: Congrats

AC is out front on pay and most metrics of work conditions vs. all the rest. ACPA has made some significant mistakes - no doubt. But what has also held us back - straight out of the government appointed arbitrator's ruling in 2012 - is the lesser contracts at Westjet and Air Transat where those sub-...

Re: Congrats

Instead of congrats I’ll offer my sympathy to all the TS folks who avoided AC for good reason and chose TS. You guys should get ahead of it and get applications in, maybe get a seniority number at Sunwing before the mass exodus of your colleagues from TS that will no doubt be heading there before t...

Re: Air Canada "haute cuisine" and incidence of Crew diarrhea?

This is the stuff that AC's #1 clientele are being served. Do you really think they are going to feed them something that will make then sick? I've eaten the meals operating, and riding in J, extensively and while the overseas business class food and snacks are better, domestic is still very good. I...

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread

It's cheaper for them to leave the pilots at home than run a reduction bid. Not only are the 737 pilots getting paid less at home than they would be if they were training, the amount of courses a reduction would trigger would be out of sight at a time when training is at capacity. Even if they only ...

Re: DOH merge.

Big question is, will the offer go up? Should I throw some money at the stock and hope for nice little 20% return? I bought right after the very first announcement and I'm up 190k but I haven't bailed out yet. It could all come tumbling ass over teakettle back down to $4. Right now it's ...

C-scale as I said isn't ideal. I can see a lots of voting out of spite though if guys are getting burned too badly and it's what management wants I am sure... So we all better get on board a fair deal and focus on gains all across for the new group. You guys win here no matter what, there will be no...

Re: DOH merge.

LOL... Douchebags are funny. Keep it going... I think it's a great laugh... You won't be ratio'd or DOH'd into the 777. Arbitrators look at exactly that, career expectations, and no lottery wins at the exclusive cost of the other group. Even ALPAs merger policy considers this. We'll all get a fair d...

Some recent new hires off the street were in the 2000 range. Mind you they checked off the aviation university box and 705 experience.
Jazz/Sky are certainly lower experience levels than OTS.

One positive, if you think like me, is we will need a certification vote. Hopefully bye bye ACPA Are you crazy? Shut down your representation the day you need it the most? The AT MEC at that moment would take over the whole group... No matter how disfunctional ACPA may be, that's ridiculous. Put th...

Other than military pilots, I'm thinking competitive OTS is probably 5000+ hours, and either large turboprop or corporate command experience, or airline transport jet experience... and a degree.

Re: Leave of absence

I have been told that AC only had to pay the grounded Max pilots for 3 months, after that they are not getting a pay cheque at all? The company offered pilots the opportunity to go back to their previous type short term if they only needed a recurrent course, I haven't heard how many took the back ...

Re: Air Canada passenger wakes up to find herself 'forgotten' in empty plane

Right, so you'll do nothing different when accepting an airplane on a regular morning vs accepting an airplane where a passenger has been messing around in? Correct. How do you know what happened overnight before your "regular" morning? Theoretically true, but if you miss a passenger in the plane, ...
