Re: Terrible news for the Air Canada work force...

I posted this weeks ago on this forum.

First hand info from my friends in healthcare that they are attaching as much as possible to Covid.

This is political. They need to justify what they've done.

Re: Air Transat Ferry flights

International equipment leases are governed by treaty. Ships and aircraft have additional treaties recognizing their movability. You can pick it all apart, but the bottom line is the lessor has a right to recover, control, and relocate their property using reasonable means. Transat didn't have to s...

Re: The Return to Normal?

Honestly this a greedy move by AC and very much Shameful. I understand it’s business but even business has its limit. There is limit to hunger. AC is not the only airline in Canada, what about WJ? You have 7 billion in the bank and you are threatening (that is the correct term) to lay off 20K of yo...

Re: Terrible news for the Air Canada work force...

My Dad loves the Trudeau senior bucks... He's gonna buy a new Scotty Cameron putter. Rich old guy that totally needs the money... How's that pay everyone their $2K and ask questions later going? My friend at the CRA says unqualified people collecting the money is so rampant they will never be...

Re: The Return to Normal?

I think there's several parts to this recent play by the C-suite. The company does need to right size for what it believes it will need to be coming out of this and for that matter Air Canada already carries too many staff in roles that nobody ever heard of or knows what they do. Some of that is Cro...

Re: CANZUK A Pilots Perspective

I don't want to import all the British problems here. We have enough of our own that we can't seem to deal with.

Plus they would think they were our colonial overlords again.

No thanks.

Special relationship and status between countries, sure. But Canada mostly for Canadians.

Re: Air Transat Ferry flights

This sounds like it's just fins getting sent back. Leases getting returned all around the world. Clearly lease companies, manufacturers, etc have means to move aircraft, doesn't have to be the ex-operator's pilots doing it.

If it was not under the OC, how did they get into RVSM airspace? There's so little traffic out there today, maybe they just phoned each FIR and got approval? What about MNPS?
I'm sure lease companies have arrangements when they have to move aircraft. Why wouldn't they be allowed in RVSM/MNPS?

Re: The Return to Normal?

There may be a link to the whole situation, but if it's the virus itself, it's not established yet. And how do you reconcile that not all the kids had the virus or antibody?

You like to work on facts, don't you?

Re: The Return to Normal?

It's a reach. There is not a link. Not all the kids in New York had Covid, of course some of them did, because hundreds of thousands of people have or had it, but it's not the cause. Why didn't we see this on any other parts of the world? Only New York?

You Transat boys should write Letko and tell him to go f×ck himself, he doesn't know what he's talking about regarding the reason for the low share valuation. He doesn't know anything. The deal is expected to go through as negotiated. Jeezus. Altiplano, 4010 unuseful posts on avcanada (plus those o...

Re: Air Canada and Transat announce Increased Purchase Price to $18 per Share

So let me get this straight. Your claim is that the airline industry recovery from the worst global economic recession since the Great Depression is going to be lead by discretionary international travel and discretionary spending. 🙄 I’m sorry but that’s a bit of a stretch. There is lots of wishful...

Re: Air Canada and Transat announce Increased Purchase Price to $18 per Share

"Priceless" - LOL... TRZ aircraft? That's an expensive lease takeover... 720 million for a handful of new 321 leases when aircraft leases are a dime a dozen and you're reducing your own fleet and lease liabilities at present? And gas is cheap? This will play out to the bitter end of approvals or lac...

Re: 79 Airplanes Retired

So am I correct in understanding that any RP will not be entitled to a RIR because any position they move to is an upgraded position? Therefore, even if the company offered the RP position in the future, the original RPs would have to no RP CR except UR CR to make the move back? This would open it ...

Re: 79 Airplanes Retired

Just because you show surplus does not mean you are getting a furlough. Not immediately you mean? Eventually it will lead to furlough right? Unless the next bid changes the Outlook. But surplus and furlough are two separate things. One is based on the bid, and the other will depend on ACPA MOA, etc...

Ok semantics. 795 surplus of which 600 max can be laid off(but probably will just stay on payroll and collect CEWS until CEWS ends or September, whichever is later) and the remaining 195 could be laid off starting in September? No it's not just semantics. They have two different meanings. Just beca...

Re: 79 Airplanes Retired

This is far from a paper bid... there's always a lot of jigging and massaging on the CMSC, but there will be a ton of moves and training happening right away. There will be reduced 787/777/330 CAs too. Probably 40 or 50 reduced 767 CAs, and L767 CAs have the seniority to bump in there and I'm sure t...
