Re: Jazz Vs Sky Regional

Lots of those YVO destined pilots comfortably make $150k+/yr and will be retiring to 6 figure pensions. But I guess flying shiny planes to cool places for less pay/pension/benefits trumps that. Rudder, you're making the assumption that somebody today will also see those pay scales. We already know ...

Re: Jazz Vs Sky Regional

So, to sum this thread up: Jazz is a utopia where everyone is in a constant state of bliss. Each night their pilots go to bed and say a little thank you to the gods of ALPA. Sky Regional is the very definition of hell on earth. Everyone is miserable and should consider a job as a Walmart greeter as ...

Re: U.S. Work

There is no regional PILOT shortage, just regional pilot PAY shortages, we got plenty of folks who meet mins for regionals, just got to wait for the regionals to nut up and pay properly, no need to import cheap labor to screw up the long needed upswing for pilots down here. Totally agree. The GAO d...

Re: Republic Airways Files for Bankruptcy After Pilot Shorta

the biggest issue to solve there "perceived" lack of pilot is the USA immigration there are thousands of experienced pilots from ICAO countries like Canada that attend fight safety and the like that meet the minimum legal requirements. ( usually far beyond) and Canada being part of NAFTA one would ...

Re: Is there anyone getting hired?

With the glass cockpit and EMJ time (145?) you should have a solid shot at Sky, Georgian and Jazz. Probably ahead of a Navajo bush guy with 4000 hours. I would really highlight those strengths and any flying you may have done in busier airspace/airports. Those are the items the northern guys are str...

Re: What kind of shoes do you wear?

I've heard good things about Blundstones too. I tried a pair on and didn't find them comfortable though. The salesperson said they were like that, you either love them or hate them. They do look great. I'll add to my previous post. Those shoes are great when there is no snow or ice on the ground, in...

You need something like this. No metal, easy on and off if you ever need to for security. Feels like wearing slippers to work.

Main thing is, don't buy shoes with a metal shank and if you're especially lazy like myself, avoid laces.

Re: The next PML wave

Regional can't attract pilots at their ridiculously low rates. (Republic starts at $22/flight hour) Regional airline cancels flights due to no crews. (Republic is cancelling 3000 flights per month) Regional airline realizes they can't pay more to attract and keep their pilots because their margins ...

Re: Pay scale

Have a look at the pay scale here. http://www.airlinepilotcentral.com/airlines/regional/republic_airlines You would need to be a 6 year F/O at Jazz to be at first year Republic pay based on todays exchange rate. Top Captain is about $120/hr at each company, then factor in the exchange rate. I'll adm...

Re: Pay scale

Amazing how things have changed over the last decade. We used to be so smug in Canada about how well our regional pilots were paid compared to the U.S.

Jazz $36 an hour Canadian which is around $26 USD,

Republic first year $40 an hour or about $55 Canadian (plus a $7500 signing bonus)

Re: Let The Massive Hiring Begin!!!! FINALLY

I think upgrades are happening in less than two years. If you need to choose between one of the regionals right now, Sky would probably be the best bet in terms of money and upgrade times.

It's another "not a B scale" situation. I believe before the new contract you would be paid based on your years of service, now you start at year 1 captain pay once you upgrade even if you've been at Jazz for 10 years.

What's the plan for the CRJ 200's again? Will they all be parked or possibly end up being used at the new "Classic" airline?

Either way you shake it...he/she had to leave Jazz for something and take a scab job. If it was for any personal reason Jazz would have bent over backwards for them to help get them through it. So don't troll me that line. So can you offer the rest of us some guidance if we find ourselves in a simi...

I'm not so sure it would just be a matter of GGN bitching. It's mutually beneficial to have a low turnover so AC would be just as interested in making this happen.
