Re: Converting Canadian ATPL to FAA ATP

Here's a quick idea of the course you need. Someone posted a comment at the bottom wondering if there was a loophole using a Canadian ATP and the response was no.

Re: Converting Canadian ATPL to FAA ATP

I think you'll have a bit of a problem. I did mine about a year ago. I went in again to add a type rating and the person working at the FSDO mentioned that I was lucky I did it when I did because the new regs came into play July 31st. Theres a box at the bottom that must be checked now that says "AT...

Re: New CPA and flowthrough to Air Canada?

I can only see a flow through to AC being bottom of the list. Why would ACPA agree to anything more, which means the only pilots that will be taking advantage of it are junior Jazz pilots that were applying anyway. My bet is that all F/O's and junior captains will choose to flow. If you're facing a...

Re: New CPA and flowthrough to Air Canada?

Forgive me, perhaps I'm missing something. How is this CPA extension good news? It's a 5 year CPA extension in exchange for a 30% reduction in aircraft. What's the TA like? They mentioned "labour efficiencies" in the press release which sounds like a pay cut to me. I was thinking the same thing abo...

:D Save the serious stuff for your fancy private forums. This is for fun. It might not be SKY receiving those CRJ's, it could be Acme Aviation Inc. (the new, yet to be named startup)

Oh no!!!! There are 26 D300's, that equals exactly 86 if you remove the 24 new CRJ's.
This confirms the rumor that SKY is getting those 24 new CRJ's, I can't believe it.

Re: New CPA and flowthrough to Air Canada?

Currently at Jazz : 21 Q400
16 705's
Coming soon 23 Q400's
24 CRJ 900's (top secret order)

Total 84 aircraft, that's pretty close to the 86 minimum.

Re: New CPA and flowthrough to Air Canada?

Very exciting. This is a little concerning. The transition to a newer, larger gauge aircraft operation calls for a reduction in the Jazz fleet from 122 to an established minimum guarantee of 101 aircraft by the end of 2020, and 86 aircraft by the end of 2025. The transition to newer and more efficie...

Re: Congratulations Jazz

Geez guys, nice to be thinking positively, but this order could be from Garuda Indonesia or Iraqi Airways for all you know! A whole thread dedicated to arguing over which AC CPA provider is better suited to operated the new RJs that might not even be for AC. Very true, although the size and timing ...

FO Contract- Japan

Cut and paste from another forum. Good Day, Air Japan is holding a Pre-Screening in Vancouver from January 7th-10th 2015 for US and Canadian based Embraer and CL65 pilots for B767 First Officer’s contract based in Tokyo, Japan. It is a 5 year renewable contract with option to upgrade to Captain. Sta...

Re: New Transport Canada UOC response

Good post. I've always been curious about what happens when a reassignment due to unforseen happens when it was another crew experiencing the issue. In other words, another crew went mechanical at an out station. You are now reassigned to do their flight putting you over 14hrs. It's an unforseen ope...

Everyone I know that has turned down Jazz is further ahead now. That would be true for anyone hired in the past 10 years. Unless your friend is unemployed or flipping burgers at Mcdonalds of course.

Re: ACPA Leadership

ALPA isn't the answer. Did you watch their "Pilot Pay Shortage" video. Of the 10 regional airlines they showed in the slide showing how low the wages are, 5 are represented by ALPA, and I think 3 by Teamsters and 2 non union. That just proves they've been completely useless in improving wages and wo...

Re: Renegotiating with Air Canada

When someone gets on an RJ they're usually disappointed regardless of whether or not it belongs to Jazz or someone else. The travelling public usually doesn't know the difference. I'm sure the average joe would prefer being on a Georgian RJ than a Jazz DH8-100. Trying to sell the idea of better serv...

Jetblue opened their application window for one week a couple of months ago, here was the result: Hiring Update...  Application window was open for 10 days and there were close to 4000 applicants  We are likely to select 300 pilots out of this window for interviews, including Bluedarts  3700 met ...

Re: Flying for a Canadian versus American airline

You'll need a 4 year Bachelors degree to get on with a major in the U.S. It's pretty competitive down there right now, plenty of very qualified guys have been stuck at the regionals for many years logging left seat time. Hopefully as the hiring picks up things won't be so tough. Tax wise I'm not sur...

Re: Overtime issues

I didn't think it was legal to offer cash to have crews bust there 14 hours. If it is legal, it shouldn't be. Most airlines pay by a credit system, depending on the day you could be paid in several different ways. The credit will be calculated by your duty day, flight time or a minimum guarantee. As...
