Re: Air Canada Pool

All those force reduced to rouge have to keep bidding back to mainline or they lose their pre reduction pay rate. I'd be confident in assuming 56 YYZ rouge F/O spots for new hires.

Re: Air Canada Pool

Shouldn't hiring department know this before they announce to start hiring again? How could they announce a gs only to possibly cx it 2 weeks later. Shouldn't they have info of soon to be released bid?
I don't think a rumour on AvCanada qualifies as an announcement.

Re: Air Canada Pool

For the time being, 60-ish new spots on the 787 + nil retirements - 150 lost positions on the EMJ 175 = possible downbid in October. Should know better in a week.

Hope so. We'll see when it takes effect. Here's the text: Harper government promotes Canadian jobs, reciprocity and fairness in the air industry No. H112/13 For release - August 30, 2013 OTTAWA —The Honourable Lisa Raitt, Minister of Transport, today unveiled a new policy to promote Canadian employm...

Re: hiring halter...

This bid showed 16 new hires required over the next year. The October bid will probably show a handful more, and so on. All depends when the company can fit a class in and the required sim slots are available. Could be the fall, could be late spring. Right now there's a lot of training for emj guys ...

Re: hiring halter...

I still stand by my comment that you will not see a new hire at mainline for a long time. The new 777's were included in the last bid, still overstaffed on the emjI capts, will lose many more 319's to Rouge, 787's swap for 767's one for one, and minimal retirement. I wish I end up being wrong.

Re: hiring halter...

In December 2012, Air Canada had 205 aircraft. It plans to have 206, including rouge , by December 2015. With no retirements the math on hiring is pretty simple. As an aside, this will mean mainline shrinking to only 164 aircraft at that point. I think it's fair to assume mainline will not see a new...

Pretty flat bid. 16 openings. October bid will show the first pile of 787 crew requirements.

Re: New Merger?

If you use the following website Transat is higher and AC is lower than Airline Pilot central. ..which is why no one uses that site. Those numbers are a decade out of date. Stick to APC. The rouge pay scales, which are obviously lower than mainline have the widebody pay based on Transat and narrowb...

AC is considering closing YVR as a base
Good one. Supposed to happen just after they buy Transat, right?

Rouge will grow to 42 aircraft by the end of 2015, so there will certainly be more destinations. Don't know if there's enough room to base everything out of YYZ.

That's the only part that would piss anyone here off.

Re: YVR for New Hires

I believe it's just a training freeze, and no new training is required, but this is new territory.

All I can find in the contract is that if you were to switch to mainline, you couldn't switch back to the same type at LCC for 24 months.
