Re: My flying blog.

Thank you. I'm pretty pleased I can see again and even more so to finally get back to flying in a couple of planes for 2019, hopefully I can continue this time. That one example started off kind of specific. I should have wrote "Springbank outer tower..." I replaced 6000' and information delta with ...

Re: My flying blog.

Yeah that sounds like they are less than satisfied with something. I think I heard someone having a conversation kind of like that a few years ago which included, "Ok good, I just wanted to make sure there was an instructor onboard." Way back I did get called to the tower at Red Deer on my first sol...

Re: My flying blog.

Having wrote all that, on the radio, less is better. "Outer tower, GABC, inbound for landing, at xxxx' with information X."

Re: My flying blog.

I'm not worried but I also can't just tour around missing calls in Class C. They don't like that. And fair enough it's pretty high density there these days. Inbound for landing I read back an altitude restriction wrong. She said, "Not below 5500., I said, "Not below 5000." It was ok because we all n...

Re: fifty reasons to find a new instructor

As horrible as we all know instructors are I just met and flew with yet another one that instead of causing me to question why I am paying them to ride around with me. I am inspired to improve my skills again. And that is impressive since I am bit emo and have advanced add.

Re: Environmental impact of aviation

I've got this. Every house gets a bicycle hooked to a generator. You put anyone that wants electricity for luxuries such as lights and Internet on the bike and feed them carrots from their own garden. If some smart ass kid wants to bitch about the environmental damage from their grandparents and go ...

Re: Environmental impact of aviation

Can someone erase this thread and replace it with one extolling the virtues of flying and how it's public transit and therefore good for the environment?

Or just let them shut everything down and we can hang out and eat raw fish with lettuce & carrots.

Flying high again.

I put another 1.4 dual in my log signing it as Self like I always do. It was a really good flight. We went touring around the Turnervalley area. My left steep turns were decent my right ones much more comedic. Forced approach due to pretend loss of power was pretty good. I hate doing those partially...

Re: Im in highschool

Good advice here so far. Do your best at math because it is helpful, my father always said, "Math is part of everything." but don't worry too much about your grades. If you can get a degree do it, try to find something you are interested in and choose that but, you don't even need post secondary for...

I have not heard of the Silver Spitfire. I suppose it flew by here and I missed it. Or maybe it went through Edmonton instead.

Re: Mountain flying with MrAviation101.

The passenger? Maybe he was going to do some Oxy-acetylene welding during cruise. I watched a bit again. They're in the mountains, the plane is a 172 and there was possible icing in the pattern for one runway direction. Maybe I'm being too critical. I would not have went out to the plane in those co...

Mountain flying with MrAviation101.

He aborts his takeoff and goes back to grab a hotel. I think I would have not bothered taxiing out to try but I'm a chicken. I was not on board so I don't know enough info but it's funny how the video made it look like things were not that bad as they lifted off. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOlSP...

Re: Acceptable proof of hours for TC rating.

Transport certainly seems difficult to deal with sometimes. I just played a several month long game of, "Please explain what you want from my Ophthalmologist so he can send it to you." Grrrrr. I wonder if they are concerned that being computerized makes it easier to change it from your log book to m...

I avoid Toronto, I would not be surprised if the schools around there pay less because so many people want to live there.

Have you considered phoning the FTUs you are interested in, to talk with the chief pilot or even other staff?

Do until others.......you know. Common courtesy is in shortage. PF, you ever walk downtown.....how many people walk with their heads down in their phones. Expecting you to move out of their way. It's a broader mentality, nothing to do with airplanes Because that's the old Golden Rule. That ancient ...

Re: EAA Oshkosh 2020 Tips?

Speaking of the world coming unravelled...

My wife just read an ad from Buffalo Wild Wings. I like them but.. They are offering a "free" stein to keep for $15.98, refills are $10.95. Free is five bucks? Someone should go to jail.
