Re: J3-Cub Tie-downs for OshKosh

Thanks Doc, I hadn't considered that as an option. I'll put an ad on craigslist in OshKosh. How about: Guaranteed weight loss! Fat chick needed to sit in 1946 J3 Cub at OshKosh to keep it from blowing away! Sweat the fat away amidst 500,000 aviation fans, 10,000 airplanes and 200 cubs! Please apply ...

Re: J3-Cub Tie-downs for OshKosh

Umm... apparently google searches better than the site.

Looks like you covered this last year:

Thanks to fleet16b for recommending "the claw" - just need to find one now. Any help there would be appreciated.

J3-Cub Tie-downs for OshKosh

Hey Guys, I've searched the board and not found an answer to this question, I'm hoping someone might help me out. I'm flying to OshKosh in 2 weeks (I'm pretty excited) in a 1946 J3 (L4B). I've been reading the OshKosh Website and it calls for some fairly strong tie-downs. After researching online I ...

Re: Oshkosh July 23-29, 2012

Me and my 150 hours are going. Got all my paper work done, just gotta do some paper planning and learn how to use the GPS.

At a 50 kt ground speed in a J3/L4B, how much trouble could I get in? :D

I'll be camping with the rest of the cubs, hope to meet some of you!

Re: Is Wiarton a fun place to fly for dinner ?

Killarney is amazing, totally worth the trip. I did it last year at 100 hrs and split the flight time with another PPL out of WWFC. That helped with the rental price and the walk from the strip to the fish and chips place is awesome. I've flown to Wiarton a couple of times, they have a courtesy car,...

US FAA Airspace Waivers

Hey all, I'm looking to go to Airventure in a J3 Cub in July. Since the cub has no electrics, it has no transponder, which I'm told means I need to get an airspace waiver for the duration of my trip. Has anyone ever done this? I got a US FAA login and have started the application, but I'm confused b...

Me, my 130 hours and http://www.3pointaviator.com's L4B are planning to go for the 75th anniversary of the Cub. Any tips anyone wants to provide would be welcome. Glen's helping me plan too, but needless to say, this is a big endeavor.

Where to fly?

Hey folks, I did all my training at WWFC out of CYKF and was a renter there. I've now moved to Toronto and I'm looking for a more nearby place to rent and fly from. I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations, or maybe even some warnings, regarding where to rent and train from. I figure Markham,...

Re: Radio & GPS for a J3

Thanks everyone, I'm going to explore more closely the antennae setup. It's worked for me before, I just blamed the frozen battery. Yes, I wear a headset which hooks into the handheld. It's worked for me before, just not this particular flight. I appreciate the joys of looking out the window and nav...

Radio & GPS for a J3

I flew a J3 to Collingwood this weekend and in addition to freezing my a** off, I realized that I'm uncomfortable flying a plane without a reliable radio and that a GPS would be prudent given that the 1946 bird has no heading indicator and a suspicious compass. I realize that the joy of Cub flying i...

Re: @ @ @ @ @ @ @ @ @ @ @ @ @ @ @ @ @ @ Float Rating in Onta

For what little it's worth, coming from a guy with 115 hrs, I got my float rating this summer and all I learned was : 7 hours is not enough time in which to learn to properly fly a float plane. I have a rating, but no intention of using it unsupervised.

Re: Episode 2 Teaser of Dust Up ~ A Sprayer's Paradise

You've got commercial guys mixed with Air Cadets mixed with people who just want to learn to fly all with varying degrees of money, education and experience. Instructo...
