Canadian Forces Bell 412 in Invermere BC

Does anyone know about the black Bell 412 in Invermere? From what i understand they've been there for at least a few days making flights somewhere north along the valley. The crew and helicopter look like Canadian Forces but there are no labels/insignias on their flightsuits or aircraft etc other th...

Re: 30,5(!) years old...

If I was to do it all over again, or offer some advice, it'd be get a good degree from a decent university. Finance, Engineering... something with applicable skills should you need a backup plan and respect due to the math/logic content. Then either in school or after build up your ratings and hours...

I agree with both of you. Increasing prices just for a big weekend... Grey Cup for example is gouging... but yes prices as a whole are way too low. who says prices are too low? competition exists to bring the best deal/service to consumers - not to the employees. when you buy a 800$ computer you do...

Do you need to meet the contrail requirement for a FO position, or just for left seat?

What about for bag runs/cargo etc on a caravan or metro?

Thanks.

YYC...Min hours for right seat job?

What are the approx min hours to be hired on with Carson, AltaFlights, Sunwest, Swanberg, NCA etc for an entry level FO position? Any chance with under 1000 hours, 500 or less for example?

Thanks for any input.

Flight Dispatcher Exam. Any recommendations?

If any of you have written and passed the exams, can you comment on how long it took to study, or an estimate if a person was to nearly study every day for it. Is there a textbook for the exam, or do you use some of the training books provided for your pilots license? Is there at least a book which ...

Building Time from 250 hours.

I have some questions. Can anyone comment on building time as an instructor in the US and if the hours are transferable to Canada? Second, there are some programs in the US where you fly SIC, pay upfront for the training, then get paid a small wage to fly as the F/O. I think Gulfstream has something...

Thanks for all the replies. Excellent info. I suppose I'm maybe like most pilots who don't practise forced approaches enough after doing their license but I'm spending some time with an instructor to make sure my skills are still sharp. The weather has prevented me from going up recently but I'll de...

spin training

I have a serious fear of spins. I'd eventually like to conquer this fear so I can get a CPL (which is why i haven't yet). I've never been one to enjoy roller coasters/extreme rides etc and don't find power on stalls much fun do to the fear of them leading into spins. More than anything it's my fear ...

Do you love your job?

How many of you commercial pilots still love your job, salary aside, and would do it over again?

Also if you hate it, why? If you don't mind, can you state how long you have being flying commercially.

Thanks.

The hours required for a licence are very similar but the cost of operating the aircraft is much higher. fuel is more and there is a charge for each touch and go and every time you cross an airway etc... Funny thing is though the fares are much less than here. With much higher salaries, higher oper...

Out of curiosity, what does a PPL cost in Europe? How many hours is the min for the license? What is the average price/litre for 100 LL fuel (or their equiv)? Also, don't the airlines have rigorious training programs of their own which they hire 250 hr pilots but is very difficult to be accepted (co...

I have FSX now running around 20 fps (medium settings) on my Pentium 4 2.8ghz, 1 gig of ram, and an old ATI card. It was unplayable out of the box, but you have to lower the settings a bit and do some tweaks. It looks very good now and the terrain/land detail blows FS2004 away... esp in areas like N...

Just installed FSX last night. My first impressions are not good. Like the original post/review states, do not buy it unless you have a CRAY or some other super computer. If you have a decent/good computer, keep using FS2004 and get some upgraded terrain. You'll be better off. Otherwise, FSX with me...

I have a page in my log book that I'd like to redo. I made one too many mistakes on it and as a result very messy... so what are the rules if I want to rip it out... or void it out and re-enter the data?

Thanks.

i don't disagree with you and why these terrorists may exist. the west has a long history of interfering in the middle east. but, given what you just said, this leads to even more support why these latest events are not just a hoax by Bush/Blair/Harper/West/NeoCons.

32 is young in my opinion. lots of people change careers in their 30's or even 40's. don't let age hold you back. in 8 years you are only forty and can still put a solid 20 years in.

keep us posted. i'm nearly in the same boat as you. best of luck.
