Re: TSC- Pilots hating on Pilots

That's great but this is Avcanada so I'm pretty sure the people posting on here with ZERO military flying experience know more than you about it. Or guys who make a living flying bombs and missiles on single seat fighters trying to teach others about good passenger service  The result is merel...

Re: TSC- Pilots hating on Pilots

Received this in a PM I can't believe you went there in conversation about respect. I won't dignify it with a public response, but you have crossed a line! Some of those losses involved the loss of close personal friends. Doing jobs most civilian pilots could not comprehend. This was the most asshol...

Re: TSC- Pilots hating on Pilots

I came the military route. We put 250 hour wonders in a Hornet with tons of responsibility, and they do the job quite well, they earned the spot by demonstrating skill as pilot and good learning curve in their previous flying. Experience isn't the be all and end all, there are tons of other factors...

Re: Air Transat...?

Will these have the same range as the A310's... No. But then again, range varies a lot with payload, so two identical aircraft will not have the same range if they are configured differently. Airbus claims the A321 NEO LR will have a 4000NM range. But with how how much payload ? 164 seats or 207 ? ...

Re: Air Transat...?

It's a pretty exciting development for AT. Although the 321 Neo isn't quite as efficient as the 737, my understanding is that the pilots will be able to be dual typed on the 330 and 321 and could literally fly both in the same pairing. This would allow tremendous increases in efficiency and flexibi...

Re: Air Transat YOW

I'm starting to suspect that Rookiepilot is a handle used by the YOW duty manager on July 31. :D If that is the case, he is fighting to keep his job...... If you notice later that this post was deleted, you will know it's because I received a request to take it down, or a Mod took it down, meaning a...

The lessons to be learned

20 aircraft diverted to YOW because of weather. They all needed one thing: refuel and continue. Looking at the arrival and departure times of the 20 aircraft, one sees that the aircraft were not refueled sequentially in the order that they had arrived. Here are some of the arrival and departure time...

Re: Air Transat YOW

Let me repeat for the logic challenged:

After the APU quit and emergency services came to the aircraft, no one asked to get off. Not even the one who dialed 911.

That is how bad the situation was.

I rest my case.

Re: Air Transat YOW

Giles' post is a classic case of "the operation was a compete success and the surgeon was a hero" while the bigger picture here is that the patient died. Let's give everyone a payrise for a job well done, and move on. Clearly he feels there's nothing to learn here. His entire post is a fascinating ...

Re: Air Transat YOW

20 aircraft diverted to YOW that day including many wide bodies and a 380. Several thousand passengers. The 4 AT flights alone had over 1000 passengers. OUT of the 20, not one deplaned. Out of the 20, 8 were on the ground over 3 hours. The longest was the AT whose APU ran out of fuel, not when it fr...

The YOW airport authority

The YOW ramp, the Hangar 14 areas and de-icing bays in YOW are uncontrolled as far as Nav Canada is concerned and managed by the YOW airport which decides who parks where. Each time an airliner arrives, NavCanada contacts the YOW airport to ask where it should be parked. After all gates and parking ...

Notes from the hearings

Air Transat is accused of violating the passenger Tariff that stipulates that passengers must be deplaned if they are delayed more than 90 minutes. 20 aircraft diverted to YOW on July 31. None of the 20 deplaned. Only two out of 20 managed to turn around inside the 90 minute limit specified by the t...

So far two classes of 10 with a total of 6 cadets and 20 Captain upgrades. No Foreign pilots flying C-Reg aircraft this Season. Foreign pilots will only fly 4 wet-leases aircraft. 2 in YUL and 2 in YOW. So far we've hired 62 pilots this year. 42 in April and May plus the additional 20 starting in t...

Re: Air Transat YOW

Okay, so that makes it ok to have pax wait for 6 hours in the plane? It sucks that they got jumped in the fuel line, but that doesn't mean they have a wildcard to just not care about the passengers. After 1.5 hours it might have been time to work on alternatives (stairs, gates, catering, .. ) Most ...

Air Transit use to use Servisair(swissport) for their ground handling needs but a few years ago the decided they could save money by giving the contract to ASIG now know as Menzies that lasted one winter as ASIG lost the contract due to poor service such as no staff showing up to work on weekends,t...

Re: SUNWING

If correct it's about time and it's very, very good news. From 2006 to about 2015, Sunwing would deploy about 4 aircraft to Europe every summer with one summer around 2013 when 7 were deployed. This, if true, is a record. If Sunwing keeps this up and roughly the same numbers of foreigners come here ...

Re: SUNWING

You want facts ? Real Facts ? Let a Sunwing insider post how many Sunwing AIRCRAFT deployed full time to Europe the last 3 summers. That will give a pretty precise indication of how many pilots deployed (its roughly 14 pilots per aircraft) Also please provide the registrations of the aircraft that d...
