Re: NewLeaf cancels service and blames the other airlines for undercutting

Many, many of what I would consider my peers have done just that, Nark, because they can't conduct business here under free market terms. Isn't that a problem, not with them but the country, Nark? Who creates the jobs? The Government? I love this country but have serious concerns where it's going. T...

Re: NewLeaf cancels service and blames the other airlines for undercutting

I can easily believe the bigger players wanted to squish anyone new. We see this everywhere in the socialist paradise called Canada. I think you're mistaken with something called the "free market". I believe in competition, and like in other industries where Canada had to force the incumbents to pl...

The " Other " site does not have baby sitters making sure the snowflakes don't get melted. Actually, I gave up on the other site precisely because the main posters (including you) are all snowflakes. It's impossible to have a decent discussion...as soon as anyone questions any facts, the snow...

I can easily believe the bigger players wanted to squish anyone new. We see this everywhere in the socialist paradise called Canada. The government seems to be fine with favouring the former Government air - and Team Teal -- though beloved AC sure tried to kill them off too -- through slot allocatio...

Re: C525 goes missing over Lake Erie with 6 aboard

Might be simplistic, but I wonder what setting trims carefully have to do with these accidents, and no immediate turns after takeoff. Even in the spam can, especially at night I've made sure elevator trim would guarantee a positive climb after takeoff without my assistance. I've recalled night VFR (...

By 1000 hours, is busy airspace still expected to be a challenge? Maybe they - you know - instructed in busy airspace? I only noticed this thread cause that's close to my TT. One Always reflects -- would I want to go down that path? Anyway -- Toronto isn't that crazy busy airspace, certainly not YT...

Re: TC Rule change idea to enhance Safety.

I think Fatigue is a huge and under reported factor for night accidents. I especially think night circling approaches are ugly. I've done a day circling approach to minimums, that was sporty enough. Personally, I think competence is the under-reported factor. The lack of it is never listed as a cau...

Re: TC Rule change idea to enhance Safety.

I consider it to be utterly unnecessary. Safety would be better served by simply requiring an instrument rating and instrument currency for anyone who wishes to operate at night, period. Private pilots will perhaps find this unfair, but since we're talking about imaginary new rules that could make ...

Re: TC Rule change idea to enhance Safety.

Ditto. Aside from the fatigue factor IFR at night is actually easier in some respects (min viz as mentioned) or no different than day IFR. Night VFR is a different story and than includes circling. I think Fatigue is a huge and under reported factor for night accidents. I especially think night cir...

TC Rule change idea to enhance Safety.

I have a passion for safety, especially GA safety, my context. It seems to me an obvious fact, night operations raise risks dramatically even VFR, especially IFR. Therefore I believe a simple TC rule change would cut accidents down, I place it here for discussion. Very simple. Any pilot wishing to f...

Re: C525 goes missing over Lake Erie with 6 aboard

Fair enough that we shouldn't paint everyone with the same brush and common sense prevails that most pilots - private and commercial - are indeed very safe. To frame the particular issue is to narrow it to the pressure to make it home in marginal conditions. Most accidents of this type involve some...

Re: C525 goes missing over Lake Erie with 6 aboard

The accident files are overflowing with similar cases, but few systems are left in place to share lessons learned and for pilots to learn from others mistakes. So many businessmen, doctors, dentists and other such with more money than brains have met that same fate: thou can afford it therefore tho...

If offered the choice, I'd ride in, or fly, a SE turbine before a clapped out twin piston, 10/10.

And Used AC Prices sure reflect that, too.

Do you all still defend AC's account the YHZ accident was a "hard landing" too? Curious. Did anybody ever defend it?. Just curious too. You haven't answered my question. Be honest now... Answer mine. Did anyone you know, working for AC, contact AC directly, go on record by name and say, "calling th...

Re: Airline executives resign after ‘drunken’ pilot allowed into cabin of plane with 154 passengers

Airline executives resign for inappropriate actions of their employees. A foreign airline, no less. Perhaps some airlines here need to take a page from that book. Who wants to lay odds one person other than the pilot will lose their job at SW? It's called Honor, Honesty, accountability, leadership. ...

Re: Airline employee calls police, threatens group with "no fly" list.

As for the last comment, AC investigate? Investigate what? They dont have to compensate for this. What, then going to do a press release saying what they found, either way? Not a chance -- they already know exactly what happened is my guess, and don't want to talk about their employee's behaviour. ...

I really respect those who fly up north. The risk management can get rather complicated, even my negligible experience flying in N Ontario has shown me that.

Re: Airline employee calls police, threatens group with "no fly" list.

It should be pointed out as well that even if true, nobody knows what was happening in this employees life that would trigger that kind of response. Basically unless you're a qualified saint yourself who knows the thrust of this story is true I wouldn't bring out the pitchforks and torches.. I see....
