Re: X s baggage
As far as everything is getting more expensive, the reality is they are not getting more expensive, they are just taking more of the working class money to fill their own pockets. The difference being that things don't need to be getting more expensive if the corporate greed could subside. Greed is...

Re: X s baggage
While I appreciate people are upset (like with any change), it puts me as ease knowing behind all these decisions are people who are educated to make these business decissions while many of us are not. Bags cost money. Carry on does not. (Added TOW) so why punish the one day/light traveller with the...

Re: Service from terminal areas for VFR
Just file IFR!! Having trained in the airspace the OP mentioned, I do recall times throughout the summer when ywg would be shut to vfr. At the end of the day I'd still find away to go fly. Now I have to keep an open mind here as I was a ppl at one point to... But just hearing some of these vf...

Re: Cameras in the Cockpit
How many accidents have gone unsolved? Serious question as we have done a great job solving the problem with what we already have. By we I of course mean investigators. Kind of seems like a knee jerk reaction for a very rare problem. Plus.... They'd still have to find the device.

Re: Encore gets one list and a new pay scale.
I had applications in with both WestJet and air canada. My air canada application has since been cancelled. If encore is not for you, then feel free to apply else where. Everyone I fly with on a day to day basis is very happy where they are and like me, will be calling WestJet home for the next 25 y...

Re: FSS clearance
The question wasn't meant to serve as a complaint or imply I want to be lazy. I was just wondering as it seems to depend on which airport you are at. One FSS airport will always say via fpr (unless there is a change) while another fss station will always read the whole clearance. Sure You could just...

FSS clearance
What is the reason that some FSS's when providing an IFR clearance will give you "cleared Toronto via flight plan route, maintain FL180, blah blah blah" then other FSS's stations will always clear you to "cleared Toronto VIA J###, YQT, J###, YMS, YMS2 arrival," etc even though the whole route they r...

There are PFO's going out so I would say the number of qualified applicants is still exceeding the demand?

Re: Encore interview process
No one has to accept a job that they don't think they can afford. It is a personal decision. From the beginning of our PPL, most have this idea of flying a big fancy 777 making 200k a year. Lets adjust our views here but remembering the average Canadian salary is 32,000. I interviewed and Somethings...

Re: Boeing 737-800LR
St. Johns to Dublin (1800nm) is actually quite a bit shorter than some routes already services by the 737-700. Example Toronto-Port of Spain approx 2200nm. I first saw the LR on the safety card enroute to Hawaii and thought it stood for long range.

Re: Encore's Pay and Work Conditions
So now that Encore is past the 6 month mark, can some share their feedback on the experience so far? I've heard rumblings of a wage increase? Are you actually working 20 days a month? whats the average cheque looking like with (and without per diems)?

Digital performance charts
Has anyone ever found a program that works for converting those pesky, small poh charts to a digital format. I know there are programs out there that do this (define axis, values etc) but haven't found one that works to my liking.

Re: WJ Mainline Interviews
Since this is the first time (to my knowledge) that there is a WestJet and Encore posting at the same time, I am going to assume there are a few people who have their names in the running for both. Since it has been mentioned that the interviews are the same, how would this work out. On initial phon...

Re: Sliding scale alternate weather
The forecast wx has to be 1000/1 or better, not the mins for the approach. In order for the sliding scale to apply, the approach must meet standard alternate minima, that is 300/1 above the published mins is less than or equal to 800/2. Therefore, the highest mins that the approach could have is 50...
