Annual Cost?

Looking for the hours that are needed to perform a yearly annual on a single engine prop plane, C172/Grumman Cheetah/ cherokee etc. I know parts etc can cost more. I am just curious the hours of labour if everything goes smoothly. Is it 10? 15? etc. no prop inspection, no pitot/transponder renewal, ...

Re: Question; Canada Customs check when exiting Canada to Eu

Thought if you missed traffic court you were found guilty. I would like to know the charge. I'm guessing OP is using "traffic court" as disguise for something a little more serious. I have never had anyone go over my driving record for for convictions.

Re: Montreal to Moncton VFR

Maine=many trees, lakes, mountains, can seem a little isolating. I think there is a section of about 20 minutes with no radio contact. Although that was at 4500 ft.

Re: 0-320, no fly 4 6mo. Best procedure to identify corrosio

Thanks for the advice, We did negotiate price. i should have added, it had it annual with fresh oil change, and has sat for 6 months. Thetas why we thought maybe running it for a couple hours and then doing a oil analysis, if rust contaminated the readings, I think that would be enough to realize th...

Re: 0-320, no fly 4 6mo. Best procedure to identify corrosio

This engine has 1400hrs TBO, It flies about 15 hours year. As mentioned earlier its been sitting for 6 months (east coast). We are considering buying. During the PPI we would like to make sure we have a proper test for corrosion. AME suggested pulling a couple cylinders. We are unsure if we should r...

Re: Low time engine.

This site used to be full of insightful thought out answers. I ask questions in the maint section because that were I assumed the professionals/AME/AMO would respond. I can man up a pay for a 10K repair thats not the issue or the question. I know nothing about the subject at hand. Therefore I ask a ...

Re: Low time engine.

No, and no. You can have a look at the camshaft if you pull one of the cylinders. But if it was my aircraft for sale and you told me you wanted to do that pre-purchase, I'd tell you to take a hike. What is the time/labour to pull a cylinder and re install? Will pulling one cylinder be enough? What ...

Re: 0-320 OH

For what it's worth, we were just quoted $25,500 (with tax) to overhaul our O-320-E2D. This would include new cylinders, slick mags, cam, cam followers and overhauled carb, as well as all the usual NDT and labour. Did that include the removal and re installation of the engine? Thanks for the reply.

0-320 OH

I get people quoting anywhere from 20K-30K. Can someone please give a decent estimate of both over hauling a 0-320. As well as the cost of buying one new. I would like to know labour in time to remove old engine, and re install new/OH engine. Also could you ballpark the time one can expect their pla...

Re: What taxes are applicable if I buy a plane?

I've bought 2 planes in Ontario privately. Did not have to pay tax. They were cheaper 25K. I was advised by TC that the bill of sale should show 1$. This is after submitting the proper receipts. I was never trying to deceive. Did you get that advice from a government official in writing? I'm fairly...

Engine not run for 3 years 0-320

I am considering a PA-28. The plane has not flown in 3 years. It will have an annual done with purchase. What should we be worried about with the engine. owner said he ran the engine a few times a year. But, there is nothing in the logs to indicate. What extra inspection should we consider doing to ...

Re: Winter Storage

Why do you own a car and go have a mechanic fix the brakes? Why buy a house, and have someone else do the plumbing? or framing, or service the furnace. Because different people have different strength. I asked in the maint section, as this is the place i thought I could get a professional opinion. Y...
