I have to ask why WJ or anyone would open the door immediately? Todays companies have to ensure they are getting the right individual first. The technicle attributes are a bonus. I certainly don't fault WJ or anyone else taking the time to choose the cream from Harmony. Question for the Harmony guy...

Fair enough. As far as the applications being treated equally, of course they are not all equal. They are weighted based on experience etc, but not based on working for a specific company. So a Harmony pilot should go to the top of the interview pile if their experience/quallifactions are the best,...

So because they are telling you that you will be treated equally with other applicants, that causes you to have a resentful attitude? (If I read you right). Do you feel you are owed special treatement? I totally feel for what everyone at Harmony must be going through, but you attitude seems out of ...

WJ is having a hiring fair as we speak for all employees of Harmony. The HR dept went out yesterday. The pilot hiring guy here sent a package over to them as well. How's that for westjettitude. Did the other guys set up a hiring fair yet? you seem to be well informed. Not. I just spoke with DP in h...

It sucks, I've been there too. However, WestJet has a package available, specific for Harmony pilots... just like they had for interested Canjet pilots. You can live in YVR, gain a lot of seniority in the next few years; and make more $ in the end. That's interesting to hear because the comment to ...

Never had one. I'd go drive a truck (not that there's anything wrong with trucks) before I'd even consider signing anything. If I say I'll be there for a year, I will. If that's not good enough....so long, farewell, ta ta! You know that, but a company doesn't know that about you. Unfortunately you ...

Re: wouldn't want to be them

Congratulations to the eight young students that got selected for Jazz. You probably got selected for your academic achievements, , your family heritage and political connections, your superior computer skills and REALLY good teeth. On your first day on the job, make sure you tell your Captain how ...

Did it ever occur to anyone here that Jazz/AC are just launching an experiment because they see the pilot pool drying up. My understanding is they will not be hiring exclusively from the college, so all you '. Yeager' types that have paid their 'dues' and are therefore so much more deserving than an...

So why do those with their noses out of joint on this issue believe the experience gained as a 'bush' pilot automatically makes for a better airline pilot?

For much of the rest of the world, including Europe, a pilots first job is at an airline.

... Perhaps there is something lacking in training such that anyone in the industry would think it is ok to falisify documents. Just a thought. Re: Harmony throwing in the towel?

Apparently stopping the new YYC-YVR flights with the RJ and purchasing the presold seats on Westjet. I have noticed you can book in the spring of 2007 though. I suspect voyageur will get a nice chunk of change from a breach of contract. Anyone else know much about this? What was the escape clause i...

The Voyageur deal was just for the summer. It was done to accommodate some interline agreements with some Asian carriers to provide connections to YYC for the season. It wasn't intended to develop the YVR-YYC market. Rumours of Harmony's demise are brought to you by the 'fun loving' folks at WJ. The...

Is there a maximum distance or time limit for an IFR alternate? Or can it be 1000 nm away from the destination airport, or any length of time as long as you have enough fuel to get to it. onelargefoot, My understanding is pika is partially correct. The turn back apparently was 2 hours out of YVR and the flight was then cancelled. It was destined for PHOG not PHNL. The pax stranded in PHOG were accommodated at Wailea as rooms were, not surprisingly, very scarce. Maybe someone has some...
